Ninaview is an unincorporated community in Bent County, Colorado, United States. History A post office called Ninaview was established in 1915, and remained in operation until 1965. The community derives its name from one Nina Jones, the daughter of a local merchant. Donald Alan Johnston restored several buildings in the late 2000s and installed an amateur observatory on the site. Astronomy is favorable here due to low external light sources. Las Animas is the statutory city that is the county seat, the most populous community, and the only incorporated municipality in Bent County, Colorado, United States. The city's population was 2,300 at the 2020 United States census. Las Animas is located on the Arkansas River, just west of its confluence with the Purgatoire River (or "Purgatory River"), in southeast Colorado east of Pueblo, near the historic Bent's Fort.
