Nina Šenk
Nina Šenk (born 14 February 1982) is a classical Slovenian composer. In 2004, while still studying at the University of Ljubljana, she won first prize at the Young Euro Classic, Young Euro Classic Festival in Berlin for her Violin Concerto No. 1. Her works have been performed at many music festivals and with various orchestras and ensembles around the world. Biography After studying composition under Pavel Mihelčič in Ljubljana, Šenk moved to Dresden where she undertook postgraduate studies under Lothar Voigtländer. In 2008, she earned a master's degree at the University of Music and Performing Arts Munich, University of Music and Performing Arts in Munich where her professor was Matthias Pintscher. After winning the Young Euro Classic prize in 2004, she was awarded the chamber music prize at the 2008 Weimar Spring Festival for Contemporary Music (''Weimarer Frühlingstage'') with her "Movimento fluido". Cottbus
Cottbus () or (;) is a university city and the second-largest city in the German state of Brandenburg after the state capital, Potsdam. The Prešeren Award (), also called the Grand Prešeren Award (), is the highest decoration in the field of artistic and in the past also scientific creation in Slovenia. It is awarded each year by the Prešeren Fund () to two eminent Slovene artists, with the provision that their work was presented to the public at least two years ago. In general, it may be given to an artist only once, and can also be given to a group of artists. Matthias Pintscher
Matthias Pintscher (born 29 January 1971) is a German composer, conductor and academic teacher. Biography Pintscher was born in Marl, North Rhine-Westphalia. As a youth, he studied the violin and conducting. He began his music studies with Giselher Klebe in 1988 at the Hochschule für Musik Detmold in Detmold. In 1990, he met Hans Werner Henze, and in 1991 and 1992, he was invited to Henze's summer school in Montepulciano, Italy. He later studied with German composer and flutist Manfred Trojahn. He held a Daniel R. Lewis Young Composer Fellowship with the Cleveland Orchestra from 2000 to 2002. In October 2010, Pintscher became the first Artist-in-Association with the BBC Scottish Symphony Orchestra. In June 2012, the Ensemble intercontemporain announced the appointment of Pintscher as its next music director, beginning in the 2013–2014 season.
