Nina Albright
Nina Dorothy Albright (February 15, 1907 – February 7, 1997) was an American comic book artist for nine years during the Golden Age of Comic Books. She was one of the few women illustrating and writing comic books during the period. Early life Arthur Gustave Abrecht (Father), Mary Stuart (mother) and Nina moved to Brooklyn in 1902 from Manhattan while Arthur worked as a reporter for a German newspaper ''New Yorker Staats-Zeitung''. She decided to become an artist after receiving an honorable mention for her submissions to drawing contests in children’s magazine ''St. Nicholas Magazine'' in 1922. In addition, at 16 she received both first prizes and the "Gold Badge" in 1923. After Nina Albright graduated a catholic high school, in June 1924. During that same year in September, she enrolled in the School of Art at the Pratt Institute in Brooklyn. Lily Renée
Lily Renée Phillips ( Willheim; May 12, 1921 – August 24, 2022), often credited as L. Renée, Lily Renée, or Reney, was an Austrian-born American artist best known as one of the earliest women in the comic-book industry, beginning in the 1940s period known as the Golden Age of Comics. She escaped from Nazi-occupied Vienna to England and later New York City, whereupon she found work as a penciller and inker at the comics publisher Fiction House, working on such features as "Jane Martin", "The Werewolf Hunter", "The Lost World" and "Señorita Rio". Early life Willheim was raised by well-to-do Jewish parents in Vienna, Austria, in the 1930s. Galerie Lambiek is a Dutch comic book store and art gallery in Amsterdam, founded on November 8, 1968 by Kees Kousemaker (, – Bussum, ). His son Boris Kousemaker has been the owner since 2007. From 1968 to 2015, it was located in the Kerkstraat, but in November 2015, the store moved to Koningsstraat 27. As of 2018, Lambiek is the oldest comics store in Europe, and the oldest worldwide still in existence. The name "Lambiek" originated as a misspelling of the name of the comics' character Lambik, from the popular '' Suske & Wiske'' comic book series created by Belgian artist Willy Vandersteen. Romance comics are a genre of comic book, comic books that were most popular during the Golden Age of Comics. The market for comics, which had been growing rapidly throughout the 1940s, began to plummet after the end of World War II when military contracts to provide disposable reading matter to servicemen ended.
