Nils Stian Stiansen
Nils Stian Stiansen (16 August 1900 – 25 July 1974) was a Norwegian building contractor. He was born in Fevik Fevik is a coastal village and popular seaside resort in the municipality of Grimstad, Agder County Municipality, Agder County, Norway. Situated along the Skagerrak, Skagerrak coast, Fevik lies approximately 7 kilometers (4.3 mi) northeast of ..., a son of Peder Stiansen and Inga Marie Knudsen. He operated as building contractor in Oslo from 1924, and constructed a number of residential houses and larger building complexes, a total of about 5,000 apartments. Among his projects were Bakkehaugen, Hoff Terrasse, Øvrevollkollektivet, Økernbråten and Tokerud. He also constructed the Embassy of the United States, Oslo, American Embassy and the American Lutheran Congregation, Oslo, American Lutheran Church in Oslo. Fevik
Fevik is a coastal village and popular seaside resort in the municipality of Grimstad, Agder County Municipality, Agder County, Norway. Situated along the Skagerrak, Skagerrak coast, Fevik lies approximately 7 kilometers (4.3 mi) northeast of Grimstad town center and 15 kilometers (9.3 mi) south of Arendal city center. Økern
Økern was a farm in the former municipality of Aker, Norway, and is currently a district in the borough of Bjerke in the city of Oslo. The American Lutheran Congregation is the largest English-speaking church in Oslo, Norway. The American Lutheran Congregation in Oslo is located at Fritzners gate 15 in the neighborhood of Frogner. It was the parish church for the American Lutheran Church in Oslo, and is now affiliated with the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America. ''Hvem er hvem?'' () was a Norwegian book series, presenting facts about notable persons from Norway. The first edition was issued in 1912, and the 14th edition came in 1994. From 1938, the plan was to publish such a book every three years, but the Second World War made that impossible. At the time, such a book was published annually in Denmark and every two years in Sweden. In the 2008 edition, edited by Knut Olav Åmås, one thousand persons were selected for presentation. About one third of the articles are longer, signed biographies, while the rest have a shorter, more encyclopedic format. The latest edition was edited by Knut Olav Åmås and narrowed down to 1,000 people. This differs from the older ones in style in that the articles are in a more journalistic style with personal characteristics, in addition to the purely biographical year information. Vestre Gravlund
Vestre Gravlund is a cemetery in the Frogner borough of Oslo, Norway. It is located next to the Borgen (station), Borgen metro station. At , it is the largest cemetery in Norway. It was inaugurated in September 1902 and also contains a crematorium (''Vestre krematorium'') and chapel (''Gravkapellet''). The grave chapel was constructed in granite and clay stone and was designed by architect Alfred Christian Dahl (1857–1940). It was built in 1900 and consecrated in 1902.
