Nils Frykdahl
Nils Frykdahl is an American musician, most known for his work with the bands Sleepytime Gorilla Museum and Idiot Flesh. He is also a member of the bands Free Salamander Exhibit, Faun Fables, and Darling Freakhead, and used to be a member of Charming Hostess. Along with bandmates Carla Kihlstedt and Dan Rathbun, Frykdahl is active with the performance company Ink Boat. He is also the voice of Tigtone in the 2014 animated short, ''The Begun of Tigtone''. He also reprises his role as the titular character in a 2019 Adult Swim animated television series, '' Tigtone''. He holds a bachelor's degree in music from UC Berkeley, which he received in 1989. Charming Hostess
Charming Hostess is a band that grew out of the avant-rock scene of Oakland, California, in the mid-1990s. Current work The music of Charming Hostess primarily springs from three women with an emphasis in the body—voices and vocal percussion, handclaps and heartbeats, sex-breath and silence. The work grows from diaspora consciousness: both Jewish and African. Stylistically, Charming Hostess incorporates doo-wop, Pygmy counterpoint, Balkan harmony and Andalusian melody. Contemporary influences on the band include Meredith Monk and Reinette l'Oranaise. The music often explores existing text and overlays the composer's ( Jewlia Eisenberg) own questions of authenticity, montage, and the effect of music on non-verbal languages. The Nothing Show
Idiot Flesh was an American experimental rock band formed in Oakland, California, in 1985, initially working under the name Acid Rain. Their work was characterized by its "rock against rock" slogan, and defied classification with its incorporation of marching band routines, puppet shows, and the playing of household items as tuned instruments. Adopting the Idiot Flesh moniker in 1987, they went on to release three full-length albums before disbanding in 1998. Founding members Nils Frykdahl and Dan Rathbun later played in Sleepytime Gorilla Museum, while Gene Jun later joined the Sun and Moon Ensemble. It is based on the original characters of an independent short, ''The Begun of Tigtone'', created by Andrew Koehler, Benjamin Martian, and Zack Wallenfang.
