Anorthosis Famagusta Volley (men)
Anorthosis Famagusta Volleyball, known as Anorthosis Volley for short, is the volleyball team of Anorthosis Famagusta, temporarily based in Limassol. Founded in 1928, it is one of the oldest volleyball clubs in Cyprus. Anorthosis have the most title wins in Cyprus, with 21 Cypriot Championship titles and 16 Cypriot Cup titles. History The history of department volleyball of Anorthosis is identified with the history of sport in Cyprus. The sport made its appearance in Famagusta in the 1920s with instructor and professor of gymnastics, Anastassis Economides. According to the proceedings of the meetings of the administrative council of Anorthosis, the sport of volleyball was added on 11 June 1928 with water polo. Volleyball
Volleyball is a team sport in which two teams of six players are separated by a net. Each team tries to score points by grounding a ball on the other team's court under organized rules. It has been a part of the official program of the Summer Olympic Games since Tokyo 1964. Beach volleyball was introduced to the programme at the Atlanta 1996. The adapted version of volleyball at the Summer Paralympic Games is sitting volleyball. The complete set of rules is extensive, but play essentially proceeds as follows: a player on one of the teams begins a 'rally' by serving the ball (tossing or releasing it and then hitting it with a hand or arm), from behind the back boundary line of the court, over the net, and into the receiving team's court. Finland Men's National Volleyball Team
The Finland men's national volleyball team is the national volleyball team of Finland. It is governed by the Finland Volleyball Association and takes part in international volleyball competitions. The team's best results to date are fourth place at the European Championships 2007 and ninth place at the 2014 World Championships. After a one-off appearance in 1993, Finland rejoined the FIVB World League in 2006 and has been part of the competition ever since, making this year’s entry their 12th consecutive. 2017 Men's European Volleyball Championship
The 2017 Men's European Volleyball Championship was the 30th edition of the Men's European Volleyball Championship, organised by Europe's governing volleyball body, the CEV. The tournament was held in Poland between 24 August and 3 September. Russia defeated Germany in the final to capture a record 14th title in the tournament.
