Hans Böhm
Hans Böhm (died July 19, 1476), also known as the Drummer of Niklashausen, was born in the village of Helmstadt in the south-central region of Germany known as Franconia. The year of Böhm's birth is unknown; peasants made little impact in the written historical record. Böhm was a religious revolutionary: his inconspicuous existence changed abruptly. Profile Böhm lived in the German town of Niklashausen (present-day Baden-Württemberg), where he made his living as a shepherd and street entertainer. One night in 1476, he had a vision of the Virgin Mary. Böhm's conversations with one of the most powerful and beloved saints inspired him to burn his drum in a medieval ritual known as the Bonfire of the Vanities. The ritual served as a public demonstration in which people threw their possessions or vanities into a communal bonfire to signify their dependency on God and adherence to the cult of poverty. Werbach
Werbach () is a country town in the district of Main-Tauber in Baden-Württemberg in Germany. Geographical location Werbach is located in the Taubertal between Tauberbischofsheim, Wertheim (Main) and Würzburg. History Werbach is first mentioned in the year 1248. In 1563 the plague killed almost 500 people in Werbach. During the Campaign of the Main near Werbach one of the last combats of the Austro-Prussian War took place. On 24 July 1866 troops of Baden fought against troops of Oldenburg. The troops of Oldenburg, allies of the Prussians, occupied Werbach. According to a municipal reform in Baden-Württemberg the municipalities of Werbach, Wenkheim, Werbachhausen and Brunntal were combined to the new municipality of Werbach on 31 December 1973. East Franconian (german: Ostfränkisch) or Mainfränkisch, usually referred to as Franconian (') in German, is a dialect which is spoken in Franconia, the northern part of the federal state of Bavaria and other areas in Germany around Nuremberg, Bamberg, Coburg, Würzburg, Hof, Bayreuth, Meiningen, Bad Mergentheim, and Crailsheim. The major subgroups are ' (spoken in Lower Franconia and southern Thuringia), ' (spoken in Upper and Middle Franconia) and ' (spoken in some parts of Middle Franconia and Hohenlohe). Tauber
The Tauber () is a river in Franconia (Baden-Württemberg and Bavaria), Germany. It is a left tributary of the Main and is in length. The name derives from the Celtic word for water (compare: Dover). It flows through Rothenburg ob der Tauber, Creglingen, Weikersheim, Bad Mergentheim, Königshofen, Tauberbischofsheim, and flows into the river Main in Wertheim am Main. The Tauber Valley Cycleway is a bicycle path which runs about 101 km along the course of the river. There is a medieval bridge over the river near Rothenburg ob der Tauber.
