Nikki Einfeld
Nikki Einfeld (born January 6, 1978) is a Canadian born Lyric Coloratura Soprano. A former Adler Fellow and Merola Alumni with San Francisco Opera. She was a Grand Finalist in the 2006 Metropolitan Opera National Council Auditions. While an Adler Fellow with San Francisco Opera, she performed many roles including Mascha in The Queen of Spades by Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky, Papagena in The Magic Flute, Serpina in La Serva Padrona by Giovanni Battista Pergolesi, the title role in Rita by Gaetano Donizetti and Pauline in The Seagull. She has also appeared as Susanna in The Marriage of Figaro (New Orleans Opera), The Queen of the Night in The Magic Flute with the Canadian Opera Company and as Adina in Manitoba Opera's production of L'elisir d'amore. As a participant in the renowned Merola Opera Program, with the San Francisco Opera, Ms. Einfeld performed in The Medium by Gian-Carlo Menotti and Angelique by Jacques Ibert. The Marriage Of Figaro
''The Marriage of Figaro'' ( it, Le nozze di Figaro, links=no, ), K. 492, is a ''commedia per musica'' ( opera buffa) in four acts composed in 1786 by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, with an Italian libretto written by Lorenzo Da Ponte. It premiered at the Burgtheater in Vienna on 1 May 1786. The opera's libretto is based on the 1784 stage comedy by Pierre Beaumarchais, ''La folle journée, ou le Mariage de Figaro'' ("The Mad Day, or The Marriage of Figaro"). Jacques Ibert
Jacques François Antoine Marie Ibert (15 August 1890 – 5 February 1962) was a French composer of classical music. Having studied music from an early age, he studied at the Paris Conservatoire and won its top prize, the Prix de Rome at his first attempt, despite studies interrupted by his service in World War I. Ibert pursued a successful composing career, writing (sometimes in collaboration with other composers) seven operas, five ballets, incidental music for plays and films, works for piano solo, choral works, and chamber music. Gian-Carlo Menotti
Gian Carlo Menotti (, ; July 7, 1911 – February 1, 2007) was an Italian composer, librettist, director, and playwright who is primarily known for his output of 25 operas. Although he often referred to himself as an American composer, he kept his Italian citizenship. One of the most frequently performed opera composers of the 20th century, his most successful works were written in the 1940s and 1950s. Highly influenced by Giacomo Puccini and Modest Mussorgsky, Menotti further developed the verismo tradition of opera in the post-World War II era. Rejecting atonality and the aesthetic of the Second Viennese School, Menotti's music is characterized by expressive lyricism which carefully sets language to natural rhythms in ways that highlight textual meaning and underscore dramatic intent. Felice Romani wrote the Italian libretto, after Eugène Scribe's libretto for Daniel Auber's ' (1831). The opera premiered on 12 May 1832 at the Teatro della Canobbiana in Milan. The Canadian Opera Company (COC) is an opera company in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. It is the largest opera company in Canada and one of the largest producers of opera in North America.
