''Nightmares'' is the debut studio album by British metalcore band Architects. It was released on 15 May 2006 through Distort and In at the Deep End Records. The album was produced by the band themselves and Karl Bareham. It is the only album featuring the band's original line-up with Matt Johnson on vocals and Tim Lucas on bass. Architects (British Band)
Architects are an English metalcore band from Brighton, East Sussex, England formed in 2004 by twin brothers Dan and Tom Searle. The band now consists of Dan Searle on drums, Sam Carter on vocals, Alex Dean on bass, and Adam Christianson on guitar. They have been signed to Epitaph Records since 2013. Strongly influenced by bands such as The Dillinger Escape Plan, the sound of their first three albums was coarse, chaotic, and rhythmically complex. In 2011, Architects went in a more melodic post-hardcore direction with ''The Here and Now'', alienating some of their fanbase. The following year, they returned towards their original style with ''Daybreaker (Architects album), Daybreaker'', establishing a balance of melody and technical harshness while introducing more politicised lyrics. Metalcore is a broadly defined fusion genre combining elements of extreme metal and hardcore punk, originating in the 1990s United States and becoming popular in the 2000s. In at the Deep End Records (IATDE), founded 2000, is an independent record label based on the outskirts of Nottingham, England. The label specialises in hardcore punk and heavy metal music genres. History The label was founded in 2000 driven by the love of the then Hardcore scene in the UK by the person behind the UKbase project (UK hardcore and punk website). Based on the outskirts of Nottingham, IATDE issued their first release ''Amped Up'' in 2002. It was a compilation record of thirty bands of various style including punk, metal, hardcore and emo (some that had featured on UKbase). Distort Entertainment is a Canadian independent record label based in Toronto, Ontario. The label specializes in bands performing hardcore punk-derived music, including Alexisonfire, Cancer Bats and Johnny Truant, but its sister division Distort Light has also released less aggressive rock bands such as Bend Sinister. ''Ruin'' is the second studio album by British metalcore band Architects (British band), Architects. It was released on 25 October 2007 through United by Fate, Distort Entertainment, Distort and Century Media Records. The album was produced by John Mitchell (musician), John Mitchell, Ben Humphreys and the band themselves. It is the first album to feature vocalist Sam Carter and bassist Alex Dean. Composition Style Stylistically, this album displays a minor change in the band's style, with a more fluid yet darker metalcore sound. Clean vocals are implemented again in a few songs, to a larger extent than on ''Nightmares'', although not as prominently as in later releases. The Dillinger Escape Plan
The Dillinger Escape Plan is an American metalcore band. The band was formed in 1997 in Morris Plains, New Jersey by guitarist Ben Weinman, bassist Adam Doll, vocalist Dimitri Minakakis, and drummer Chris Pennie. The band's use of Consonance and dissonance, dissonance, odd time signatures, polyrhythms and unconventional drum patterns became a staple of their sound, although later albums incorporated more melody, and influences from a range of genres. The band's lineup shifted numerous times throughout its existence; by the time the group dissolved, Weinman was the only remaining founding member. Converge is an American metalcore band formed by vocalist and artist Jacob Bannon and guitarist and producer Kurt Ballou in Salem, Massachusetts in 1990. While recording their landmark fourth album ''Jane Doe (album), Jane Doe'' in 2001, the group became a four-piece with the departure of guitarist Aaron Dalbec and the addition of bassist Nate Newton (musician), Nate Newton and drummer Ben Koller. Unsane (band)
Unsane is an American noise rock trio that was formed in New York City in 1988. Its music touches on elements of hardcore punk and metal. The writer Patrick Kennedy wrote, "While developing the blueprint for noise-metal bands to follow, Unsane cut a remarkable swath through underground music, inspiring a devoted, cult-like following around the world." History In 1988, the singer/guitarist Chris Spencer, bass guitarist Pete Shore and drummer Charlie Ondras were students at Sarah Lawrence College when they formed Lawn-Chair-Blisters before changing the name to Unsane.
