''Night Dubbing'' is the third album by British soul/dance group Imagination, produced by Steve Jolley and Tony Swain and released in 1983. The album consists of dub remixes of tracks from Imagination's first two albums, '' Body Talk'' and '' In the Heat of the Night'', and reached No 9 on the UK Albums chart. All tracks from this album are available on the United Kingdom 2CD compilation set ''Just an Illusion: The Very Best of Imagination''. Reception Andy Kellman of Allmusic rated the album 3.5 out of 5 stars and said: "Though it hits more often than it misses, Night Dubbing is of value to DJs and completists only." Imagination were an English trio, who came to prominence in the early 1980s. They had hits in 28 countries, earning four platinum discs, nine gold discs, and more than a dozen silver discs around the world between 1981 and 1983. History Background Singer/keyboardist Leee John (born 23 June 1957, Hackney, London) was working as a backing vocalist for the Delfonics, Chairmen of the Board, the Velvelettes and the Elgins when he met Ashley Ingram, a guitarist/bassist (born 27 November 1960, Northampton). Leslie McGregor "Leee" John (born 23 June 1957) is a British musician, singer, and actor of St Lucian descent. He was born in Hackney, London, and educated in New York City, later studying drama at the Anna Scher Theatre School. He is perhaps best known as the lead singer of the soul band Imagination, which had three UK top 10 hits in the early 1980s. Imagination is the production of sensations, feelings and thoughts informing oneself. Electric Lady Studios
Electric Lady Studios is a recording studio in Greenwich Village, New York City. It was commissioned by rock musician Jimi Hendrix in 1968 and designed by architect John Storyk and audio engineer Eddie Kramer by 1970. Hendrix spent only ten weeks recording in Electric Lady before his death that year, but it quickly became a famed studio used by many top-selling recording artists from the 1970s onwards, including Led Zeppelin, Stevie Wonder, and David Bowie. Larry Levan
Larry Levan (; born Lawrence Philpot, July 20, 1954 – November 8, 1992) was an American DJ best known for his decade-long residency at the New York City night club Paradise Garage, which has been described as the prototype of the modern dance club. He developed a cult following who referred to his sets as "Saturday Mass". Influential post-disco DJ François Kevorkian credits Levan with introducing the dub aesthetic into dance music. "Changes" is the eighth single by the British soul and post-disco band Imagination, released by R & B Records in 1982 in the United Kingdom and by MCA Records in 1983 in the United States. The song was produced and arranged by Tony Swain and Steve Jolley. "Changes" appears on the band's 1982 album '' In the Heat of the Night'' (which also features the tracks "Music and Lights" and " Just an Illusion", which were successful hits for the band earlier in 1982).
