Nigerian Conservation Foundation
The Nigerian Conservation Foundation (NCF) is an environmental non-governmental organization that promotes environmental tourism with the goal of expanding awareness of Nigeria's natural resources and creating economic incentives. Founded in 1980 by Shafi Edu, the foundation has since undertaken numerous resource management and conservation projects across Nigeria. Chief Ede Dafinone is the current chairman of the foundation, and Dr. Muhtari Aminu-Kano is the director-general. One of the founders was Akintola Williams. The Akintola Williams Arboretum at the Nigerian Conservation Foundation headquarters in Lagos is named in his honor. It engages in lobbying work both at the national and state levels. It also has a number of educational initiatives to raise awareness of environmental issues in Nigeria. An environmental organization is an organization coming out of the conservation or environmental movements that seeks to protect, analyse or monitor the environment against misuse or degradation from human forces. In this sense the environment may refer to the biophysical environment or the natural environment. The organization may be a charity, a trust, a non-governmental organization, a governmental organization or an intergovernmental organization. Finima Nature Park
The Finima Nature Park is a natural park in Bonny Island, Rivers State, Nigeria covering an area of approximately 1000 ha (3.9 sq mi). It was established by the Nigeria Liquefied Natural Gas Limited in 1999 with the aim of conserving nature and biodiversity in the region. Ecology Finima's reserve area is covered by tropical rainforest and mangrove swamps, some parts contain sand with freshwater ponds and tall timber between the swamps and the beach. Obudu Mountain Resort
Obudu Mountain Resort (formerly known as the Obudu Cattle Ranch) is a ranch and resort on the Obudu Plateau in Cross River State, Nigeria. History It was developed in 1951 by M. McCaughley a Scot who first explored the mountain ranges in 1949. Lekki Conservation Centre (LCC) is a Natural Resource Conservation in Lekki, Lagos State Nigeria. It is part of PARCC West Africa project. History The centre was established in 1990 to serve as biodiversity conservation icon and environment education centre. The facility was built by the Chevron Corporation for the Nigerian Conservation Foundation (NCF), as a reserved sanctuary for the rich flora and fauna of the Lekki Peninsula. The company has since provided annual funding for the management of the centre.
