Nigel Vaughan
Nigel Mark Vaughan (born 20 May 1959 in Caerleon) is a Welsh former professional footballer and Wales international. He gained ten international caps during his football career. Club career Newport County Vaughan started his playing career at his local professional side Newport County making 224 appearances and scoring 32 goals for the club. After leaving Caerleon Comprehensive School in 1975 he made his Football league debut against Rochdale as a left back at the age of 17 by manager Jimmy Scoular. The following week he played against Bournemouth FC in the FA Cup – both games finished goalless. His performances in both games were enough to get him two Welsh Youth National Team appearances against England (Wales were beat 2–3 on aggregate). Having signed as a professional in 1977 it was Newport County manager Len Ashurst that had the biggest influence on Vaughan's career. Caerleon
Caerleon (; cy, Caerllion) is a town and community in Newport, Wales. Situated on the River Usk, it lies northeast of Newport city centre, and southeast of Cwmbran. The UEFA Cup Winners' Cup was a European football club competition contested annually by the winners of domestic cup competitions. The cup was, chronologically, the second seasonal inter-European club competition organised by UEFA. The tournament ran for 39 seasons, with the final edition held in 1998–99, after which it was discontinued. The first tournament was held in 1960–61, but it was organised by the Mitropa Cup's Organising Committee and not recognised by the governing body of European football until 1963, when it was accepted as a UEFA competition on the initiative of the Italian Football Federation (FIGC). John Melligan
John Joseph "JJ" Melligan (born 11 February 1982 in Whitehall, Dublin) is an Irish footballer who plays for Hinckley AFC. Career Melligan first began playing for the Home Farm Club in Dublin before signing for Wolverhampton Wanderers in 1998. In 2001–02, Melligan went on loan to AFC Bournemouth and again at Kidderminster Harriers in 2002–03. After scoring 12 goals in 31 appearances he returned to Wolves and made two substitute appearances in (the then) Division One. In 2003, he made a substitute appearance for the Republic of Ireland Under-21 team and went on to make 21 appearances on-loan at Doncaster Rovers in the 2003–04 season. At the end of that season Melligan, signed for Cheltenham Town from Wolves for £25,000. Joleon Lescott
Joleon Patrick Lescott (born 16 August 1982) is an English former professional footballer who played as a centre-back. He currently works as a coach with the England U21s. Lescott is a graduate of the Wolverhampton Wanderers youth academy. He made his first-team debut with Wolves in 2000 and he was named the supporters' Young Player of the Year two years running. He was a regular player as the club won promotion to the Premier League in 2003, but missed the following relegation season through injury. Lee Naylor (footballer)
Lee Martyn Naylor (born 19 March 1980) is an English former professional footballer. He started his career with First Division side Wolverhampton Wanderers, joining the club in 1996. He made his debut the following year and soon established himself as the first choice left back. His first trophy came when Wolves won the 2003 Football League First Division play-off Final, gaining them promotion to the Premier League where he continued to play in the first team. Naylor moved to Scottish Premier League side Celtic in 2006 for a fee of £600,000 plus Charlie Mulgrew. Harold Michael England (born 2 December 1941) is a Welsh former footballer and manager. Playing career Playing as a central defender, England began his career at Blackburn Rovers in 1959, before moving to Tottenham Hotspur in July 1966, ultimately winning four major trophies: the FA Cup in 1967, the UEFA Cup in 1972, and the League Cup in 1971 and 1973. Sócrates Brasileiro Sampaio de Souza Vieira de Oliveira (19 February 1954 – 4 December 2011), simply known as Sócrates, was a Brazilian footballer who played as a midfielder. His medical degree and his political awareness, combined with style and quality of his play, earned him the nickname "Doctor Socrates". Ninian Park
Ninian Park was a football stadium in the Leckwith area of Cardiff, Wales, that was the home of Cardiff City F.C. for 99 years. Opened in 1910 with a single wooden stand, it underwent numerous renovations during its lifespan and hosted fixtures with over 60,000 spectators in attendance. At the time of its closure in 2009, it had a capacity of 21,508. Cardiff City had originally been playing home fixtures at Sophia Gardens but the lack of facilities at the ground had prevented them from joining the Southern Football League. To combat this, club founder Bartley Wilson secured a plot of land from Cardiff Corporation that had previously been used as a rubbish tip and construction of a new ground began in 1909. Telê Santana da Silva, also known as Telê Santana (July 26, 1931 – April 21, 2006) was a Brazilian football manager and former player ( right winger). He was born in Itabirito, Minas Gerais. Telê was the manager responsible for putting together the 1982 and 1986 Brazil national squads. Hereford United Football Club was an association football club based in Hereford, England. They played at Edgar Street for their entire history.
