Nieves Díaz Hidalgo (born 19 November 1976) is a Spanish singer known for participating in the Spanish version of '' The Voice''. Biography She was born in Toledo, Castilla-La Mancha, Spain. Her style of music is flamenco although she also interprets copla, rumba or pop. She has sung live for radio Radio Nacional de España, Onda Regional and Torre Pacheco Municipal Radio. She worked in Japan and Switzerland. She has also sung in various celebrations and parties of Toledo in collaboration with other singers. Ramón Melendi Espina (born 21 January 1979), known mononymously as Melendi, is a Spanish singer-songwriter. His specialties are rock, flamenco, and rumba styles. Early life Melendi was born in Oviedo, Asturias. He went to school with Formula One race car driver Fernando Alonso, to whom he dedicated the song "Magic Alonso". Melendi also did racing for a while. He realized very quickly that though he was not made for racing nor studying, he was good at football. He played in the lower ranks of Astur CF, at the time a reserve team for Real Oviedo. Afterwards, he worked as a waiter in several bars, living experiences that would later make up the lyrics of his songs. Rumba flamenca, also known as flamenco rumba or simply rumba (), is a ''Palo (flamenco), palo'' (style) of flamenco music developed in Andalusia, Spain. It is known as one of the ''cantes de ida y vuelta'' (roundtrip songs), music which diverged in the new world, then returned to Spain in a new form. The genre originated in the 19th century in Andalusia, southern Spain, where Cuban music first reached the country. History Rumba flamenca was primarily influenced by guaracha, an uptempo style of vocal music which originated in Havana's musical theatre. Some elements from Cuban rumba were also incorporated, although minor, despite the name. The ''copla'', ''copla andaluza'' ("Andalusian ''copla''"), ''canción andaluza'', ''canción española'', ''tonadilla'' or ''canción folklórica'' is a form of Spain, Spanish popular song, deriving from the copla (meter), poetic form of the same name. Flamenco
Flamenco () is an art form based on the various folkloric music traditions of southern Spain, developed within the Gitanos, gitano subculture of the region of Andalusia, and also having historical presence in Extremadura and Region of Murcia, Murcia. In a wider sense, the term is used to refer to a variety of both contemporary and traditional musical styles typical of southern Spain.
