Nicolás Solabarrieta
Nicolás Imanol Alberto Solabarrieta Vergara (born Nicolás Alberto Kozak Vergara; 24 August 1996) is a Chilean former professional footballer who played as a forward. Following his early retirement from football, he began participating in Chilean reality shows. Career Solabarrieta played college soccer for the University at Albany after failing to make an appearance for Chilean top flight side Club Deportivo Universidad Católica. While playing for the University at Albany, he also played for the Long Island Rough Riders, Tucson, as well as Reading United AC in the American fourth division. For 2019, he signed for Uruguayan second division outfit Tacuarembó. For 2020, Solabarrieta signed for Palestino in the Chilean top flight. Basque Chilean
Many Basques arrived in Chile in the 16th, 17th, 18th, 19th and early 20th century from their homeland in northern Spain (see Basque Provinces) and parts of southwestern France, as conquistadors, soldiers, sailors, merchants, priests and labourers. Due to their traditional hard work and entrepreneurship, many of them rose to the top of the social scale and intermarried into the Chilean elites of Castilian descent, giving birth to the new Basque-Chilean aristocracy in Chile. This union is the basis of the Chilean elite of today. But also, they immensely contributed to the ethnic make up of the bulk of the Chilean population.
