Nicolas Skorsky
Jacques Robert Penel Skorsky, known as Nicolas Skorsky (16 May 1952, Paris, France – 20 October 2014, Paris, France) was a French composer, lyricist, and music producer. Biography Born in Paris, Nicolas Skorsky began studying music at the age of six. He pursued his secondary education at Masséna High School in Nice and then moved on to the regional conservatory where he learns solfeggio. He took advantage of the events of May 1968 to return to Paris where Catherine Sauvage, known for singing Aragon or Léo Ferré, commissioned a song from him: it became ''Gare du Nord'' (1970) for which he wrote both the lyrics and the music while he was not yet eighteen. With this calling card, he arrived at Carrère as a singer-songwriter of ''Comme je t'aime'' (1972). Carrere Records
Carrere Records (, ) was a French record label which specialized in Euro disco and rock music. The record company was sold to Warner Music Group in the early 1990s. Early days Claude Carrere started working with Annie Chancel in 1962 and renamed her Sheila, who remained his sole artist for a while. He set up Carrere Productions and the records were distributed by Philips Records. In the late 1960s, he created Disques Carrere. In 1972, he produced and distributed his own releases. A lot of singers would be signed alongside Sheila, the most important ones being Ringo (Sheila's husband), Dalida and even Claude François. In 1977, the disco group Sheila and B. Devotion was created and Carrere started exporting his releases. One-man Band
A one-man band is a musician who plays a number of instruments simultaneously using their hands, feet, limbs, and various mechanical or electronic contraptions. One-man bands also often sing while they perform. The simplest type of "one-man band" is a singer accompanying themselves on acoustic guitar and playing a harmonica mounted in a metal "harp rack" below the mouth. This approach is often taken by buskers and folk music singer-guitarists. Éliette Abécassis (born 27 January 1969) is a French writer of Moroccan-Jewish descent. She is a professor of philosophy at the University of Caen Normandy. Biography Éliette Abécassis was born in Strasbourg, France into a practicing Moroccan Jewish family. Her childhood was permeated by the daily life of the Strasbourg Jewish community. Her father, Armand Abécassis teaches philosophy and is a renowned thinker of Judaism whose thought permeated the Talmudic interpretation of Strasbourg. He notably played a considerable role in the creation and teaching of the Aquiba school in Strasbourg. Her mother, Janine, is a professor and specialist in child and developmental psychology. Santa Esmeralda is a French-American disco group formed in the 1970s. The group had hits with its remakes of the 1960s hits "Don't Let Me Be Misunderstood" and "House of the Rising Sun". Santa Esmeralda featured original lead singer Leroy Gómez in 1977–1978 and singer Jimmy Goings from late 1978 until 1983. Passy Cemetery () is a small cemetery in Passy, in the 16th arrondissement of Paris, France. History The current cemetery replaced the old cemetery (''l'ancien cimetière communal de Passy'', located on Rue Lekain), which was closed in 1802. In the early 19th century, on the orders of Napoleon I, Emperor of the French, all the cemeteries in Paris were replaced by several large new ones outside the precincts of the capital. Montmartre Cemetery was built in the north, Père Lachaise Cemetery in the east, and Montparnasse Cemetery in the south. Passy Cemetery was a later addition, but has its origins in the same edict. Rozlyne Clarke (born Roslyn Elisabeth Howell, 9 July 1967) is an Australian make-up artist who also had a career as a musical theatre actor and dance music singer. Jean-Claude Petit (born 14 November 1943) is a French composer and arranger, born in Vaires-sur-Marne. After accompanying jazzmen in his childhood, Petit went to the Conservatoire de Paris, where he studied harmony and counterpoint. He did the string arrangements for Mink DeVille's '' Le Chat Bleu'' album, as well as orchestrating the backing parts to some French pop singles in the mid-to-late 1960s, including those of Erick Saint-Laurent and yé-yé girls Christine Pilzer and Monique Thubert. In 1973 he composed '' La leçon de Michette''. The song was popular in Italy due to its use in the soundtrack of a well-known '' Carosello'' (the Italian TV spot broadcast) from 1973 to 1976.
