Nicolas Nancey
Nicolas Nancey, real name Nicolas Zouros, (1874 – 13 October 1925) was a French dramatist and screenwriter. Once referred to as a successor of Eugène Labiche and Georges Feydeau he has written 15 plays in the vaudeville as well as boulevard genre, in collaboration with dramatists such as Paul Armont, Henry de Gorsse or André Mouëzy-Éon. Jan Sviták
Jan Sviták (23 December 1898 – 11 May 1945) was a Czech actor and film director. He was an important exponent of Czechoslovak film in the interwar period and during World War II. Sviták was murdered shortly after the liberation of Prague in 1945. Biography Early life Sviták was born in Plzeň, where his father worked as a clerk for the '' Škoda Plzeň'' company. During World War I, he studied at the Naval School in Pula and joined the Austro-Hungarian Navy. He was a crewman on the battleship SMS ''Wien'', which was sunk on 10 December 1917.Motl (2006), p. 13 Sviták was not physically harmed in the catastrophe, and soon after, he was awarded the Bravery Medal but the sinking was a traumatic experience. ''Station Master'' (Original Czech-language title: ''Přednosta stanice'') is a 1941 Czech language film, starring the then star comedian Vlasta Burian. It has a running time of 88 minutes and was directed by Jan Sviták. It deals with an unpaying passenger escaping the General Inspector of railroads after sleeping in his special wagon. He is then by circumstances forced to adopt the persona of master of the local railroad station. He then is forced to act at this duty before the General Inspector, committing a number of blunders due to his lack of experience and knowledge of railroad administration. The plot also involves the absent real railroad master's wife being constantly eyed by the General Inspector, as well as a local landowner. The movie ends with the real railroad master returning and the General inspector being scorned for his courting of the man's wife by Burian. Carlo Ludovico Bragaglia
Carlo Ludovico Bragaglia (8 July 1894 – 4 January 1998) was an Italian film director whose career spanned from the 1930s to the mid-1960s. He mainly directed adventure pictures and popular comedies, including some starring Totò. His 1942 film '' Non ti pago!'' was shown as part of a retrospective on Italian comedy at the 67th Venice International Film Festival. Biography Bragaglia was born in Frosinone, Latium, and was a veteran of World War I. He was wounded in action, and subsequently received a medal. Upon his discharge, Bragaglia and his brother Arturo began to experiment with photography. He later connected with Anton Giulio, another brother, to found the Casa d'arte Bragaglio.
