Nick Schommer
Nicholas James Schommer (born January 3, 1986) is an American former professional football safety. He was selected by the Tennessee Titans in the seventh round of the 2009 NFL draft. He played college football at North Dakota State. College career Schommer attended North Dakota State University after attending Prescott High School in Prescott, Wisconsin. At North Dakota State he was named a FCS third-team All-American. Safety (S), historically known as a safetyman, is a position in gridiron football on the American football positions#Defense, defense. The safeties are defensive backs who line up ten to fifteen yards from the line of scrimmage. There are two variations of the position: the free safety (FS) and the strong safety (SS). The NFL draft, officially known as the Annual Player Selection Meeting, is an annual event which serves as the most common source of player recruitment in the National Football League. Each team is given a position in the drafting order in reverse order relative to its record in the previous year, which means that the team with the worst record is positioned first and the Super Bowl champion is last. The CFL draft (also known as the CFL Canadian draft, CFL college draft, or the Canadian college draft) is an annual sports draft in which the teams of the Canadian Football League (CFL) select eligible Canadian Football League#Players and compensation, Canadian players, typically from the ranks of U Sports football or National Collegiate Athletic Association, NCAA college football. Additionally, a smaller draft, called the CFL global draft is held separately to select eligible non-Canadian/American players from the same ranks.
