Nick Rose (lacrosse)
Nick Rose (born February 11, 1988) is a Canadian professional box lacrosse goaltender currently playing for the Calgary Roughnecks of the National Lacrosse League (NLL). He is also the current president and general manager of the Orangeville Northmen of the Ontario Junior Lacrosse League (OJLL). He was drafted 28th overall by the Toronto Rock in the 2008 NLL Entry Draft. Early life and education Rose was born on February 11, 1988, in Orangeville, Ontario, Canada. His father Tony, a former lacrosse player, died when Rose was two years old and an arena was named in his honour. Playing career Minor As a youth, Rose competed with the Orangeville Northmen Jr. A lacrosse team. He was the recipient of the 2007 Junior A Rookie of the Year Award. Orangeville, Ontario
Orangeville (Canada 2021 Census population of 30,167) is a town in south-central Ontario, Canada, and the seat of Dufferin County. History The first patent of land was issued to Ezekiel Benson, a land surveyor, on August 7, 1820. That was followed by land issued to Alan Robinet in 1822. In 1863, Orangeville was named after Orange Lawrence, a businessman born in Connecticut in 1796 who owned several mills in the village. As a young man, he moved to Canada and settled in Halton County. During Mackenzie's rebellion in 1837, he was a captain in the militia. Lawrence purchased the land that became Orangeville from Robert Hughson. He settled in the area in 1844 and established a mille. The post office dates from 1851. Mike Poulin (born December 17, 1985, in Kitchener, Ontario) is a Czech Canadian professional lacrosse goaltender who plays for the San Diego Seals of the National Lacrosse League (NLL). He formerly played for the Georgia Swarm, Calgary Roughnecks, the Toronto Rock and the Boston Blazers. He also plays for the Brooklin Redmen and formerly played with Kitchener-Waterloo Kodiaks and Six Nations Chiefs of Major Series Lacrosse (MSL). Lacrosse Goaltenders
Lacrosse is a contact team sport played with a lacrosse stick and a lacrosse ball. It is the oldest organized sport in North America, with its origins with the indigenous people of North America as early as the 12th century. The game was extensively modified by European colonists, reducing the violence, to create its current collegiate and professional form. Players use the head of the lacrosse stick to carry, pass, catch, and shoot the ball into the goal. The 2023 National Lacrosse League season, formally known as the 2022–2023 season, was the 36th in the history of the NLL. The season began on December 2, 2022, and ended with the NLL final on June 3, 2023. This was the inaugural season for the expansion team Las Vegas Desert Dogs.
