Nick Newlin
Nicholas Newlin is an American rugby league footballer who has represented the United States national team. The captain of the Hawks' domestic-based team, Newlin was named as co-captain of the side for the 2017 World Cup. Early life Born and raised in Port Washington, Wisconsin, Newlin played soccer, American football, baseball and basketball as a child. In 2008, Newlin joined the United States Marine Corps and spent four years serving in Afghanistan. He moved to Atlanta, Georgia at the completion of his service, and discovered rugby league in 2014 through the Atlanta Rhinos. Playing career In his debut season of rugby league, Newlin was named captain of the Atlanta Rhinos for their inaugural season in the USA Rugby League. Port Washington, Wisconsin
Port Washington is the county seat of Ozaukee County in the U.S. state of Wisconsin. Located on Lake Michigan's western shore east of Interstate 43, the community is a suburb in the Milwaukee metropolitan area 27 miles north of the City of Milwaukee. The city's artificial harbor at the mouth of Sauk Creek was dredged in the 1870s and was a commercial port until the early 2000s. The population was 11,250 at the 2010 census. When French explorers arrived in the area in the 17th century, they found a Native American village at the mouth of Sauk Creek—the present location of historic downtown Port Washington. The United States Federal Government forcibly expelled the Native Americans in the 1830s, and the first settlers arrived in 1835, calling their settlement "Wisconsin City" before renaming it "Port Washington" in honor of President George Washington. Jamaica National Rugby League Team
The Jamaica national rugby league team represents Jamaica in international rugby league tournaments. Administered by the Jamaica Rugby League Association, the team made their full international debut at the 2009 Atlantic Cup against the United States. The team will make their first appearance at the Rugby League World Cup in 2021. They primarily wear yellow jerseys with green shorts and green socks. The 2017 Rugby League World Cup Americas qualification was a rugby league tournament that was held in December 2015 to decide the American qualifier for the 2017 Rugby League World Cup. It consisted of a round-robin tournament involving three teams, Canada, Jamaica and the United States, at two venues in Florida in the United States. Colonial Cup (rugby League)
The Colonial Cup is an international rugby league football challenge match played between the United States Tomahawks and the Canada Wolverines. The inaugural match was played in September, 2010 at the Richardson Memorial Stadium at Queen's University in Kingston, Ontario. The match was won by the USA Tomahawks 22-16. In 2011, the Colonial Cup was expanded to a 'home and away' series. Each team won their home fixture; the USA won the first of the two games 18-2 with Canada securing their first win in the second match with an 18-16 win. USA won the series with an overall aggregate score of 34-20. In 2012, the Cup was again contested over 2 games, with the USA Tomahawks winning both games. In 2013, the series has been expanded to a best 2 of 3 series. In 2014, Canada won their first ever Colonial Cup trophy.
