Nick Martinelli
Nicholas J. Martinelli (born 5 July 1952) is an American R&B and pop record producer. During the 1980s he worked with many R&B and pop music artists, some of them based in the UK. Acts he has worked with include Loose Ends, Phyllis Hyman, Five Star, Stephanie Mills and Regina Belle. Early history Martinelli cut his teeth as a teenager in 1969 in the Chips warehouse, an independent record distributor for Motown. He was promoted to warehouse manager as he developed an understanding of distribution and retail sales. In 1977, Motown rewarded Nick's diligence by giving him additional responsibilities handling dance promotion for the Northeast region covering the territory from New York to Washington. It was in the clubs that Martinelli found an outlet to express himself creatively—behind the turntables. "Ghostbusters" is a song written by American musician Ray Parker Jr. as the theme to the 1984 film '' Ghostbusters'', and included on its soundtrack. Debuting at number 68 on June 16, 1984, the song peaked at No. 1 on the ''Billboard'' Hot 100 on August 11, staying there for three weeks (Parker's only number one on that chart), and at No. 2 on the UK Singles Chart on September 16, staying there for three weeks. Ray Erskine Parker Jr. (born May 1, 1954) is an American guitarist, songwriter, and record producer. As a solo performer, he wrote and performed Ghostbusters (song), the theme song for the 1984 film ''Ghostbusters'' and also sounds from the animated series ''The Real Ghostbusters''. Frankie Smith
Franklyn Leon Smith (January 29, 1940 – March 8, 2019) was an American funk musician and R&B/soul songwriter. He was best known for his 1981 hit single " Double Dutch Bus". Career Smith went to college in Tennessee for elementary education with a minor in music. He became a writer for funk and soul artists such as the O'Jays and The Spinners. In 1972 he would record for Paramount, releasing a single called "Double Dutch" under the name Franklin Franklin, but it failed to become a hit. He was also influential in the careers of the rappers Tone Loc, Ice Cube and Snoop Dogg. With his 1981 single " Double Dutch Bus", released by WMOT Records, Smith popularized a nonsensical form of slang (from his song "Slang thang", 1981 WMOT, Records), in which "iz" is placed in the middle of a word (for example, the word "place" becomes "pl''iz''ace"), or the last letters of a word are replaced with " -izzle" ("sure" becomes sh''izzle''). Dexter Gilman Wansel (born August 22, 1950) is an American R&B/jazz fusion artist, singer, arranger, musician, composer, conductor, synthesist and A&R director. Early life Dexter Wansel began as an errand boy backstage at the Uptown Theater in Philadelphia from 1959 through 1963 for his step-uncle Georgie Woods.
