Nick Brushfield
Nicholas Peter Brushfield (26 July 1906 – 13 November 1993) was an Australian rules footballer who played with Geelong in the Victorian Football League (VFL). Geelong Brushfield was only 16 years of age when he came from St Mary's and debuted for Geelong in the 1923 VFL season. He played 16 games for Geelong in 1925, a premiership year, only to miss the grand final when he sprained a leg the day before and was withdrawn from the side. During the 1925 season he represented Victoria against Bendigo and New South Wales. He retired from football on the advice of his doctor halfway through Geelong's 1926 premiership defence, but returned in 1927 to make five appearances. The Geelong Amateur Football & Netball Club, nicknamed the ''Ammos, is an Australian rules football and netball club situated in the regional city of Geelong, Victoria, Australia. GAFNC teams currently play in the Bellarine Football League. History The Geelong Amateur Football Club was formed in 1926 as a result of teachers and students from The Geelong College and The Geelong Grammar forming a football team to play in Victorian Amateur Football Association. Thomas John Hawkins (born 21 July 1988) is an Australian rules footballer playing for the Geelong Football Club in the Australian Football League (AFL). At 198 cm (6 ft 6 in) tall and weighing , Hawkins has the ability to play as either a full-forward or centre half-forward. Brian Brushfield
Brian Brushfield (born 25 December 1943) is a former Australian rules footballer who played with Geelong in the Victorian Football League (VFL). He was also a football commentator for some years, at Geelong radio station K-Rock. VFL career Brushfield, a half-forward, is the nephew of former Geelong player Nick Brushfield. Recruited from Xavier College, Brushfield started out at Geelong as an 18-year-old in the 1962 VFL season, where he made two league appearances. He played a further six games in 1963, a premiership year, but didn't feature in the finals. On 6 July 1963 he was a member of the Geelong team that were comprehensively and unexpectedly beaten by Fitzroy, 9.13 (67) to 3.13 (31) in the 1963 Miracle Match. The Victorian Amateur Football Association (VAFA) is the largest senior community Australian rules football competition in Victoria. It consists of seven senior men's and women's divisions ranging from Premier to Division 4. In addition there are U19's sections and five Thirds sections, primarily made up of either clubs only able to field one team, or clubs from higher sections that can field a third team after their seniors and reserves. The league operates a double promotion and relegation system between sections with various rules dictating which section clubs can play in.
