Nicholas Binge is an author of science fiction and Horror fiction, horror. His works include ''Ascension (book), Ascension'' and ''Dissolution (book), Dissolution''. He has won or been nominated for the Proverse Prize for Fiction, the Goodreads Choice Awards, and the Premio Ignotus. His work has been translated into multiple languages, including French, German, Italian, Spanish, Finnish, Czech, Hungarian, Romanian, Russian, Portuguese and Arabic. Binge was born in Singapore, and has lived in Switzerland, Hong Kong, and United Kingdom, the UK. He currently lives in Edinburgh, Scotland, where he lectures in creative writing. ''Ascension'' is a 2023 novel by Nicholas Binge, published in the UK by Harper Voyager, and in the US by Riverhead Books. It is published or forthcoming in eleven languages, and a film adaptation is in development. The novel tells the story of Harold Tunmore, a physicist, who joins a team to climb a mountain that has appeared in the middle of the Pacific Ocean. The book was nominated for the 2023 Goodreads Choice Awards and the 2024 Premio Ignotus. Synopsis The book opens with a frame narrative and a fictional 'foreword' from Ben Tunmore. He describes how his brother Harold went missing without a trace decades before, only to turn up as an old man in a psychiatric facility in the UK. Harold is scarred both physically and mentally and speaks nonsensically about things that Ben cannot understand. Tor Books is the primary imprint of Tor Publishing Group (previously Tom Doherty Associates), a publishing company based in New York City. It primarily publishes science fiction and fantasy titles. Eric Andrew Heisserer (born 1970) is an American filmmaker, comic book writer, television writer, and television producer. His screenplay for the film '' Arrival'' earned him a Best Adapted Screenplay nomination at the 89th Academy Awards in 2016.
