Nichallea
''Nichallea'' is a monotypic genus of flowering plants belonging to the family Rubiaceae. It only contains one species, ''Nichallea soyauxii''. Its native range is western and western central Tropical Africa. It is found in the countries of Cabinda (Angola), Cameroon, Congo, Gabon, Ghana, Ivory Coast, Liberia, Nigeria, Sierra Leone and Zaïre. The genus name of ''Nichallea'' is in honour of Nicolas Hallé, a French botanist at the National Museum of Natural History and was a specialist in Rubiaceae. Diane Mary Bridson (born 1942) is a British botanist. Biography Bridson entered the Herbarium at Kew Gardens in 1963 starting as an assistant in the African section, working on Rubiaceae, eventually becoming a Principal Scientific Officer. She was Assistant Keeper for a couple of years and retired in 2002. She was senior tutor on Kew's 'International Diploma Course in Herbarium Techniques' and was co-editor of The Herbarium handbook, first published in 1989. She has published extensively on Rubiaceae, with a particular focus on Coffea, including the account for Flora of Tropical East Africa. The International Plant Names Index (IPNI) describes itself as "a database of the names and associated basic bibliographical details of seed plants, ferns and lycophytes." Coverage of plant names is best at the rank of species and genus. It includes basic bibliographical details associated with the names. Its goals include eliminating the need for repeated reference to primary sources for basic bibliographic information about plant names. The IPNI also maintains a list of standardized author abbreviations. These were initially based on Brummitt & Powell (1992), but new names and abbreviations are continually added.
