Nicci Jolly
Nicola Jolly is a Scottish TV host and beauty pageant titleholder who won Miss Scotland 2003 and competed in Miss World 2003. Biography Jolly has been a presenter for various television shows such as Sky, the BBC, and STV. Though much of her work is sport-related, Jolly has also presented a segment on the Beslan crisis for Richard & Judy, appeared as a guest presenter on This Week, and was a contestant on Celebrity Fear Factor''. Miss Scotland is a national beauty pageant in Scotland. Entrants must hold a British passport to enter. The ''Evening Express'' is a daily local newspaper serving the city of Aberdeen, Scotland. History Its first issue was published on 20 January 1879. It was a tabloid during the 1930s to the 1950s until it resumed as a broadsheet in November 1958, six days a week. By September 1989, The Saturday edition returned to a tabloid with the broadsheet formula during the weekdays. It became a tabloid six days a week in February 1995. There was also a Saturday night paper called the Green Final which ended in June 2002 after many years in which it was printed on green paper instead of the usual white. It showed progress on how Aberdeen FC did in their matches as well as a full check on the day's football results. Clipper Round The World Yacht Race
The Clipper Round the World Yacht Race is a biennial sailing race that takes paying amateur crews on one or more legs of a circumnavigation of the globe in 11 specially designed identical yachts owned by Clipper Ventures. Professional skippers and additional qualified persons (AQPs) lead each teams on the 10-month journey. All participants must complete a four-week training course before starting the race. The race was conceived in 1995 by Sir Robin Knox-Johnston and is run by Clipper Ventures plc. The race has been held every two years since 1996, although in 2004 there was not a race and biennial racing resumed in 2005. SSPCA
The Scottish Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (also known as the Scottish SPCA and SSPCA) is a charity to promote animal welfare in Scotland. History and operations It was founded in Edinburgh in 1839 and one of its first aims was to improve the welfare of cart-horses. Over the next century and a half, the charity grew and merged with other local SPCAs, such as the Dundee SPCA, Glasgow and West of Scotland SPCA and Aberdeen SPCA. The Scottish SPCA opened its first centre in Mansfield, Balerno, in 1930. It acted as a Rest Farm for Horses which provided many working horses and ponies a period of rest before being returned to work. Miss World 2003 was the 53rd edition of the Miss World pageant, held at the Crown of Beauty Theatre in Sanya, China, on December 6, 2003. It was the first time that the Miss World pageant held in China. Azra Akın of Turkey crowned Rosanna Davison of Ireland as her successor at the end of the event. It is Ireland's first victory in the history of the pageant. 106 contestants competed in this year's pageant, surpassing the previous record of 95 contestants in 2000.
