Nic Martin
Nic Martin is an Australian rules footballer who plays for the Essendon Football Club in the Australian Football League (AFL). He is a product of the Trinity College football program. He joined the club as a rookie prior to the 2022 season. He made his senior debut for Essendon against Geelong in round 1, scoring 5 goals and having 27 disposals, earning him a rising star nomination for that round. At the conclusion of the 2023 season Martin was voted the runner up in the AFL Coaches Association Best Young Player award behind Collingwood’s Nick Daicos. Subiaco Football Club
The Subiaco Football Club, nicknamed the Lions and known before 1973 as the ''Maroons'', is an Australian rules football club in the West Australian Football League (WAFL) and WAFL Women's (WAFLW). It was founded in 1896, and admitted to the WAFL in 1901, along with North Fremantle. The club is currently based at Leederville Oval, having previously played at Subiaco Oval. The AFL Rising Star is an Australian rules football award presented annually to the player adjudged the best young player in the Australian Football League (AFL) for the year. It was first presented in the 1993 season, and was won by Nathan Buckley, playing for the Brisbane Bears. The recipient of the AFL Rising Star has been awarded the Ron Evans Medal since 2007, named in honour of the former AFL Commission chairman following his death that year. The award was sponsored by Norwich Union Australia from its inception in 1993 until 2000.
