Niazi Rustem Demi (1919–1977) was an Albanian politician. Niazi Demi was born in 1919 in Filiates, a town of northwestern Greece located in the region of Chameria. He studied in Vlorë and then in Tirana's high school, graduating in late 1930s. In 1942 he joined the ranks of the Albanian National Liberation Front and in 1943 became political commissar of the Berat District brigades. He was also part of the VIIth Attacking Brigade (). After World War II he became initially counsellor of the Albanian ambassador in the USSR and later Minister of Trade of Albania. Filiates (; ) is a town and a Communities and Municipalities of Greece, municipality in Thesprotia, Greece. Albanian National Liberation Front
The National Liberation Movement (; or ''Lëvizja Antifashiste Nacional-Çlirimtare'' (LANÇ)), also translated as National Liberation Front, was an Albanian communist resistance organization that fought in World War II. It was created on 16 September 1942, in a conference held in Pezë, a village near Tirana, and was led by Enver Hoxha. Apart from the figures which had the majority in the General Council it also included known nationalists like Myslim Peza although the Partisans under Yugoslav influence ended up executing numerous Albanian nationalist figures. In May 1944, the Albanian National Liberation Front was transformed into the government of Albania and its leaders became government members, and in August 1945, it was replaced by the Democratic Front. Berat District
Berat District () was one of the 36 districts of Albania, which were dissolved in July 2000 and replaced by 12 counties. It had a population of 128,410 in 2001, and an area of . It is in the centre of the country, and its capital was the city of Berat. Another large population centre in this district was Ura Vajgurore.
