Niall Corcoran
Niall Corcoran (born 9 July 1982) is a hurling coach and former player at senior level for the Dublin county team until 2016. County Hurling He won the All-Ireland Minor Hurling Championship with Galway in 2000. He made his championship debut with Dublin against Westmeath in the quarter final of the Leinster Senior Hurling Championship. Corcoran won the National Hurling League with Dublin in 2011. Corcoran coaches with Kilmacud Crokes. Corcoran is easy to pick out on the pitch, as he wears a distinctive black and red Mycro helmet. In 2018, Corcoran joined Eddie Brennan's Laois hurling backroom team. Ballinasloe
Ballinasloe ( ; ) is a town in the easternmost part of County Galway in Connacht. Located at an ancient crossing point on the River Suck, evidence of ancient settlement in the area includes a number of Bronze Age sites. Built around a 12th-century castle, which defended the fording point, the modern town of Ballinasloe was "founded" in the early 13th century. As of the 2016 census, it was one of the largest towns in County Galway, with a population of 6,662 people. Eddie Brennan
Edward Joseph Brennan (born 2 October 1978) is an Irish hurling manager and former player. His league and championship career with the Kilkenny senior team lasted twelve seasons from 2000 until 2011. Brennan was the manager of the Laois senior hurling team from 2019 to 2020. Brennan played competitive hurling in his final year at St Kieran's College, having earlier come to prominence as a dual player at minor levels with the Graigue–Ballycallan club. He won dual championship medals with the minor and under-21 teams, before later joining the club's junior team. Brennan eventually made the break onto the Graigue–Ballycallan senior team and won a Leinster medal in 2000, having earlier won a county senior championship medal. Brennan made his debut on the inter-county scene at the age of twenty when he was selected for the Kilkenny under-21 team. He won an All-Ireland medal in this grade in 1999. Kilmacud Crokes Hurlers
Kilmacud () is a suburban area of Dublin in Dún Laoghaire–Rathdown, Ireland, at least partly contiguous with Stillorgan. Name ''Kilmacud'' is an anglicisation of the Irish name , "church of aintMochuda". The identity of the dedicatee Mochuda is uncertain; is often a hypocoristic prefix. One possibility is Mo Chutu of Lismore. Another is the Welsh–Breton Malo or Mochud, supposedly a companion of Brendan the Navigator. Another suggestion is Cuthbert of Lindisfarne, whose cult could have been brought to Viking Dublin by Norse settlers from the Kingdom of Northumbria. This may be a conflation of Kilmacud with Kilmahuddrick, west of Clondalkin, which the annals of St. Mary's Abbey said is where Cuthbert was born. Hurling ( ga, iománaíocht, ') is an outdoor team game of ancient Gaelic Irish origin, played by men. One of Ireland's native Gaelic games, it shares a number of features with Gaelic football, such as the field and goals, the number of players and much terminology. The same game played by women is called camogie ('), which shares a common Gaelic root. The objective of the game is for players to use an ash wood stick called a hurley (in Irish a ', pronounced or ) to hit a small ball called a ' between the opponent's goalposts either over the crossbar for one point or under the crossbar into a net guarded by a goalkeeper for three points. Davy Fitzgerald
David Dermot Fitzgerald (born 2 August 1971) is an Irish hurling manager and former player. He has been manager of the Waterford county team since 2022, having previously managed the team between 2008 and 2011. As a player, he is widely considered to be one of the greatest goalkeepers of his generation. Fitzgerald began his hurling career at club level with Sixmilebridge. He broke onto the club's top adult team as a 17-year-old in 1989 and had his greatest success in 1996 when Sixmilebridge won the All-Ireland Club Championship. Fitzgerald's club career ended in 2011, by which time he had also won two Munster Club Championship titles and six Clare Senior Championship titles. At inter-county level, Fitzgerald was part of a Clare minor team that won the Munster Championship in 1989, before he later lined out with the Clare under-21 team. Leinster Senior Hurling Championship
The Leinster GAA Hurling Senior Championship, known simply as the Leinster Championship, is an annual inter-county hurling competition organised by the Leinster Council of the Gaelic Athletic Association (GAA). It is the highest inter-county hurling competition in the province of Leinster, and has been contested every year since the 1888 championship. The final, usually held on the first Sunday in July, serves as the culmination of a series of games played during May and June, and the results determine which team receives the Bob O'Keeffe Cup.
