Woldmaria
''Woldmaria'' is a fungal genus in the family Niaceae. The genus is monotypic, containing the single species ''Woldmaria filicina'', found in Europe and North America. ''Woldmaria'' was described by William Bridge Cooke in 1961, with ''Woldmaria crocea'' as the type species; it was subsequently moved into synonymy with ''W. filicina''. It is a species linked only to the fern ''Matteuccia struthiopteris'', having basidiomes constituted by numerous brownish tubules growing at the base of the host plant. ''Lachnella'' is a genus of cyphelloid fungi in the Niaceae The Niaceae are a family of fungi in the order Agaricales. The family contains six genera and 56 species. The genus has a widespread distribution and contains six species. The tiny fruiting bodies (up to about 2 mm across) are cup-shaped or disc-shaped and are densely edged with long white hairs. At most they may have a very short stem, but generally none at all. They can be found all year round on sticks, stalks and sometimes on bark. They are resistant to desiccation, rolling up into a tough closed ball to protect the fertile surface when dry weather comes.
