Nia Reed
Nia Kai Reed (born June 27, 1996) is an American professional volleyball player who plays as an opposite hitter for the United States women's national volleyball team and for the Omaha Supernovas of the Pro Volleyball Federation. Early life Reed was born in Cleveland, Ohio to parents William and JoMoree. She grew up in Fort Lee, New Jersey and attended high school at Immaculate Heart Academy. At Immaculate Heart, she was a four-year starter and led her team to four straight non-public state championships. She was named Player of the Year in 2011, 2012 and 2013 and played on the USA Volleyball Girls' Youth A2 team. She was the 12th ranked national recruit in her graduating class, and chose to play for Russ Rose at Penn State. Russ Rose
Russell David Rose (born November 29, 1953) is an American former volleyball coach who was the women's volleyball coach at Penn State University from 1979 to 2021. His lifetime head coaching record is 1330–229, which ranks first in NCAA Division I history. He has the most wins and highest winning percentage of any Penn State intercollegiate athletic coach in Penn State history. College Rose graduated from George Williams College in 1975. He was a member of the school's volleyball team that won the 1974 National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) national championship. He was the captain of the 1975 team that finished third in NAIA competition. After graduation, Rose remained at George Williams for two years as a part-time coach, helping the women's volleyball team win two state titles and place sixth in national competition. Brazilian Volleyball Super League (Women)
The Brazilian Volleyball Super League () is the top level Brazilian professional volleyball competition. It is organized by the Brazilian Volleyball Confederation. It shares the same name as the men's tournament, and are disputed simultaneously. The number of participating clubs varies every year. The champion team qualifies for the South American Championship. Women's South American Volleyball Club Championship
The South American Women's Volleyball Club Championship is an international women's club volleyball competition organized by the ''Confederación Sudamericana de Voleibol'' (CSV), the sport's governing body in South America. The competition was first contested in 1970 in Lima, Peru and tournaments have been held every year since then. FIVB Volleyball Women's Nations League
The FIVB Women's Volleyball Nations League is an international volleyball competition contested by the senior women's national teams of the members of the ' (FIVB), the sport's global governing body. The first tournament took place between May and July 2018, with the final taking place in Nanjing, China. United States won the inaugural edition, defeating Turkey in the final. In July 2018, the FIVB announced that China would host the next three editions of the women's Volleyball Nations League Finals, from 2019–2021, but on March 13, 2020, the Federation decided to postpone the Nations League until after the 2020 Summer Olympics due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Big Ten Conference Volleyball
Big Ten volleyball is made up of the women's volleyball programs from the Big Ten's 18 member universities. Through 2021, the Big Ten has earned a combined 36 NCAA national semifinal appearances by eight different teams. In 1987, Illinois became the first Big Ten program to make an appearance in the national semifinal. In 1999 Penn State won the conference's first national championship, and they have won seven overall, including a record four consecutive titles from 2007 to 2010. AVCA
The American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) is an organization of over 9,000 members, incorporated as a private non-profit corporation, non-profit educational corporation in 1981, as the Collegiate Volleyball Coaches Association. It is currently headquartered in Lexington, Kentucky. The original members of the AVCA were intercollegiate coaches who banded together to form this particular coaching body. In 1986, during the San Francisco convention, the membership recognized the growing and developing high school and USAV, club communities. The name of the association was then changed to reflect these growing constituencies. 2014 NCAA Division I Women's Volleyball Tournament
The 2014 NCAA Division I women's volleyball tournament began on December 4 and concluded on December 20 at Chesapeake Energy Arena in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. The tournament field was announced on November 30. Penn State defeated BYU in the finals to win the school's 7th NCAA title. Qualifying teams The champions of the NCAA's 32 conferences qualify automatically. Twenty-two conferences hold tournaments, while the other ten award their automatic bid on the basis of being the league's regular-season champion. Those that do not hold tournaments are the American Athletic, Atlantic Coast, Big 12, Big Ten, Big West, Ivy League, Mountain West, Pac-12, Southeastern and West Coast Conferences.
