Ngong Hills
The Ngong Hills are peaks in a ridge along the Great Rift Valley, located southwest near Nairobi, in southern Kenya. The word "Ngong" is an Anglicization of a Maasai phrase "enkong'u emuny" meaning rhinoceros spring, and this name derives from a spring located near Ngong Town. The Ngong Hills, from the eastside slopes, overlook the Nairobi National Park and, off to the north, the city of Nairobi. The Ngong Hills, from the westside slopes, overlook the Great Rift Valley dropping over below, where Maasai villages have been developed. The peak of the Ngong Hills is above sea level. During the years of British colonial rule, the area around the Ngong Hills was a major settler farming region, and many traditional colonial houses are still seen in the area. Ngong Hills Forest Reserve
Ngong Hills Forest Reserve is the protected area of the larger Ngong Hills, Ngong, Kenya. The reserve is located on the southern tip of the Rift Valley region, away from Kenya's capital, Nairobi. With the tallest peak standing at an altitude of above sea level, it is the highest point in Ngong. Ngong Hills Wind Power Station, also Ngong Hills Wind Farm, is a wind-powered power station in Kenya. Ngong is a town near the Ngong Hills along the Great Rift Valley, Kenya, Great Rift Valley within Kajiado County, located in the southwest of Nairobi, in southern Kenya. Denys Finch Hatton
Denys George Finch-Hatton MC (24 April 1887 – 14 May 1931) was a British aristocratic big-game hunter and the lover of Baroness Karen von Blixen (also known by her pen name, Isak Dinesen), a Danish noblewoman who wrote about him in her autobiographical book ''Out of Africa'', first published in 1937. Baroness Karen Christentze von Blixen-Finecke (born Dinesen; 17 April 1885 – 7 September 1962) was a Danish author who wrote in Danish and English. She is also known under her pen names Isak Dinesen, used in English-speaking countries; Tania Blixen, used in German-speaking countries; Osceola, and Pierre Andrézel.
