Estadio Neza 86 is a football stadium in Ciudad Nezahualcóyotl, a commuter town located east of Mexico City in the State of Mexico. The stadium is located on the grounds of the main campus of the ''Universidad Tecnológica de Nezahualcóyotl''. The stadium will be renovated soon, which will decrease the capacity. History The stadium is often reported to have been constructed primarily as a venue for the 1986 FIFA World Cup. It was however already opened in 1981, while Mexico was not awarded the World Cup until 1983. The venue was first called ''Estadio José López Portillo'' before receiving the name ''Neza 86'' for the World Cup tournament. Ciudad Nezahualcóyotl
Nezahualcóyotl (), or more commonly Neza, is a city and municipal seat of the municipalities of Mexico, municipality of Nezahualcóyotl in Mexico. It is located in the List of states of Mexico, state of State of Mexico, Mexico, adjacent to the east side of Mexico City. The municipality comprises its own intrastate region, Region IX (Mexico State). It was named after Nezahualcoyotl (tlatoani), Nezahualcoyotl, the Acolhua poet and king of nearby Texcoco (Aztec site), Texcoco, which was built on the drained bed of Lake Texcoco. The name ''Nezahualcóyotl'' comes from Nahuatl, meaning "fasting coyote". Nezahualcóyotl's heraldry includes an Aztec writing, Aztec glyph as well as a coat of arms. The Serie A has 38 teams (5 Liga de Expansión MX Reserve Teams and 33 Serie A Teams) divided into three groups.
