Newtype
is a monthly magazine originating from Japan covering anime and, to a lesser extent, manga, voice actors, science fiction, , and video games. It was launched by publishing company Kadokawa Shoten on March 8, 1985, and has since been released in Japan on the 10th of every month. ''Newtype Korea'' was formerly published in South Korea. Spin-off publications of ''Newtype'' also exist in Japan, such as ''Newtype Hero'' and ''Newtype the Live'', which are dedicated to and ''NewWORDS'', which is geared toward a more adult market, as well as numerous limited-run versions such as ''Clamp Newtype''. An English language version, ''Newtype USA'', was published in North America between 2002 and 2008. The magazine's name comes from the " Newtypes" in the Universal Century timeline of the ''Gundam'' series, specifically ''Mobile Suit Gundam'' (1979) and its sequel '' Mobile Suit Zeta Gundam'' (1985). Clamp (manga Artists)
Clamp (stylized in all caps) is an all-female Japanese manga artist group, consisting of leader and writer Nanase Ohkawa (born in Osaka), and three artists whose roles shift for each series: Mokona, Tsubaki Nekoi, and Satsuki Igarashi (all born in Kyoto). Clamp was first formed in the mid-1980s as an eleven-member group creating ''dōjinshi'' (self-published Fan labor, fan works), and began creating original manga in 1987. By the time the group made its mainstream publishing debut with ''RG Veda'' in 1989, it was reduced to seven members; three more members left in 1993, leaving the four current members of the group. is a manga by Yukiru Sugisaki. It was followed by ''Lagoon Engine Einsatz''. The main protagonists are Yen and Jin Ragun. The name "Lagoon Engine" is derived from the phonetic pronunciation of the main characters' names (Ragun Yen Jin). Volume 6 was released on December 1, 2009. Volume 7 was released in September 2010 in the US. Plot ''Lagoon Engine'' revolves around two characters: 12-year-old Yen, and 11-year-old Jin.
