Newforge
Newforge is a country club in Belfast, Northern Ireland. It was founded in 1956 for members of the Royal Ulster Constabulary but has developed into an open club with multiple sports facilities. History Newforge was founded in 1956 after the grounds were purchased by the Royal Ulster Constabulary Athletic Association (RUC AA). Though it was originally a private club for serving and retired police officers, membership was later opened to others. In 2005, £50,000 from the Northern Bank robbery was found at Newforge; it was believed to have been planted by the IRA in order to frame the police. In 2012, there were proposals for the RUC AA to change their name to the "Police Athletic Association Northern Ireland" on the grounds that the more generic name would entitle them to more grants for the association and Newforge. Newforge Lane
Newforge Lane is a private-members' country club for members of the RUC Athletic Association, located in Belfast, Northern Ireland. It hosts multiple sports facilities, principally the football stadium, which serves as the home ground of the Police Service of Northern Ireland Football Club. From 2003-11, Queen's University Football Club also used Newforge Lane as its home ground. Only one side of the ground is developed with two turnstiles at the entrance at the country club side. PSNI GAA
Police Service of Northern Ireland GAA, also known as PSNI GAA, is a Gaelic Games club based in Northern Ireland. The club was set up in 2002 for members of the Police Service of Northern Ireland, with the intent to allow serving police officers to play Gaelic games following the abolition of Rule 21, which had prohibited them from doing so. They are based at Newforge Lane in Belfast alongside other teams affiliated with the RUC Athletic Association. They are affiliated with Antrim GAA and play in their Inter-Firms League. Northern Bank Robbery
On 20 December 2004, £26.5 million in cash was stolen from the headquarters of Northern Bank on Donegall Square West in Belfast, Northern Ireland. Having taken family members of two bank officials hostage, an armed gang forced the workers to help them steal both used and unused pound sterling banknotes. The money was then loaded into a van and driven away in two trips. This was one of the largest bank robberies in the history of the United Kingdom. The 2005 ICC Trophy was a cricket tournament held in Ireland between 1 July and 13 July 2005. It was an international one-day tournament played over 50 overs per side between 12 Associate Members of the International Cricket Council.
