Newcastle East End Football Club was an English football club which briefly played in the Northern League and the FA Cup in the late 19th century. Their entire history was played out during the Victorian era in Newcastle upon Tyne until eventually adopting the name Newcastle United following their rivals collapse. The club is most known for being one of two teams in Newcastle until 1892 when Newcastle West End collapsed, leaving Newcastle East End the only football team in Newcastle. Byker
Byker is a district in the east of the city and metropolitan borough of Newcastle upon Tyne. Home to the Byker Wall estate, made famous by TV series '' Byker Grove'', Byker’s population was recorded at 12,206 in the 2011 census. Byker is bordered by Heaton to the north and by Shieldfield to the north east. In popular culture Byker became well known as the setting of the BBC TV series '' Byker Grove'' (1989–2006); although set in the ward, the youth club featured in the series was filmed at The Mitre in the Benwell area in the west end of Newcastle.
