New Zealand Football () is the governing body for the sport of association football in New Zealand. It oversees the seven New Zealand Football federations, as well as the New Zealand men's national football team (nicknamed the "All Whites"), the national junior and women's teams (nicknamed the " Football Ferns"), the men's and women's national Leagues New Zealand National League, National Women's League, and a number of tournaments, including the Chatham Cup and Kate Sheppard Cup. Two New Zealand teams, Auckland FC and Wellington Phoenix FC, who play in the Australian's A-League Men and A-League Women, also come under New Zealand Football jurisdiction. Kate Sheppard Cup
The Kate Sheppard Cup, currently known as the New Zealand Football Foundation Kate Sheppard Cup for sponsorship purposes, is New Zealand's premier Single-elimination tournament, knockout tournament in women's association football. Founded in 1994, it was known as the Women's Knockout Cup, until it was renamed in 2018. What would have been the 2020 edition of the competition, was cancelled because of Impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on association football, COVID-19 but the competition continued again in 2021. Oceania Football Confederation
The Oceania Football Confederation (OFC) is one of the six continental confederations of international association football. The OFC has 13 members, 11 of which are full members and two which are associate members not affiliated with FIFA. It promotes the game in Oceania and allows the member nations to qualify for the FIFA World Cup. OFC is predominantly made up of island nations where association football is not the most popular sport, with low GDP and low population meaning very little money is generated by the OFC nations. The OFC has little influence in the wider football world, either in terms of international competition or as a source of players for high-profile club competitions. WaiBOP Football, also known as Waikato Bay of Plenty Football, is one of six federations of New Zealand Football, representing regions of Bay of Plenty, Rotorua, Taupō, Thames/Coromandel and Waikato. History Waikato/B.O.P. was founded in 2002, to represent the region for the New Zealand Women's National League from its inaugural season in 2002 until 2019. In 2021, the Northern franchise teams was replaced for more of a club based competition, causing the WaiBOP United is dissolve. WaiBOP United was founded in 2004 as a conglomerate of various Waikato area clubs, in order to form a strong regional franchise team, and WaiBOP United was one of the eight competing teams.
