New Year (1989 Film)
''New Year'' is a 1989 Indian Malayalam-language crime thriller film directed by Viji Thampi. It is a remake of the 1985 Hindi film ''Aitbaar'', which in turn was based on ''Dial M for Murder''. The film stars Jayaram, Suresh Gopi, Urvashi, Silk Smitha and Sukumaran. Plot The film begins with Menon traveling in a taxi. The car engine overheats and the driver gets out of the car to investigate. Menon gets out of the car and is murdered by the driver. In the flashback, it is shown that Ajith is Menon's nephew who is in love with Menon's daughter, Rekha. Ajith gets a job in the military which Menon disallows. He takes the job despite the disapproval and leaves town. A new suitor named Vinod appears and soon becomes Menon's favourite. Menon arranges the marriage of Rekha to Vinod, despite her disapproval. Viji Thampi
Viji Thampi is an Indian film director, actor, right-wing politician, and social activist who works in Malayalam films. Thampi is a member of Thiruvananthapuram regional board of the Central Board of Film Certification and the State Advisor of Kerala Kshetra Samrakshana Samithi. In 2021, Thampi was appointed as the Kerala State President of the Vishva Hindu Parishad. He was also a Jury member of National film awards declaration committee in 2022. Family Viji Thampi's father, Sri R. Raghavan Thampi, was a member of the royal family of Karthikappally Palace. His mother, Smt. Siddique Mamathu (born 1 October 1962), known mononymously as Siddique, is an Indian actor and producer, who works mainly in Malayalam cinema. Along with appearing in over 350 Malayalam films, he has also acted in Tamil, Telugu and Hindi language films. Chalappurathu Raveendranatha Menon (1950 – 24 November 2007), popularly known as Ravi Menon, was a veteran Indian film actor who worked in Malayalam cinema. He was born in Sreekrishnapuram, Palakkad in 1950. James (Malayalam Actor)
James Chacko was an Indian actor who starred in more than 150 Cinema of Kerala, Malayalam language films. He was active for over three decades. He joined the industry as an art and production manager and later was the manager for actor Nedumudi Venu. He played important roles in ''New Delhi (1987 film), New Delhi'', ''Meesa Madhavan'', ''Pathram'', ''Oru Maravathoor Kanavu'' and ''Peruvannapurathe Visheshangal''. Valsala Menon
Parakkulathil Vatsala (28 August 1939 – 21 November 2023) was an Indian Malayalam novelist, short story writer, and social activist from Kerala. She is a recipient of Ezhuthachan Puraskaram 2021, the highest literary honour by the government of Kerala. She is only the fifth woman to receive the award since its institution in 1993. Vatsala was also a recipient of Kerala Sahitya Akademi Award for her novel ''Nizhalurangunna Vazhikal'' (The Paths where Shadows Sleep). She has written over 25 short story collections and 17 novels.
