A planned community, planned city, planned town, or planned settlement is any community that was carefully planned from its inception and is typically constructed on previously undeveloped land. This contrasts with settlements that evolve organically. The term ''new town'' refers to planned communities of the new towns movement in particular, mainly in the United Kingdom. It was also common in the European colonization of the Americas to build according to a plan either on fresh ground or on the ruins of earlier Native American villages. Nové Mesto (meaning ''New Town'') is a borough of Bratislava, in the Bratislava III district. It is located north and north-east of the Old Town, Bratislava, Old Town. The borough also borders Rača (Bratislava), Rača, Vajnory, Ružinov, Lamač and Záhorská Bystrica boroughs. History There was no compact settlement in the Middle Ages in the cadastral area of present-day borough, and for long it had countryside character. Three roads passed throughout the area: one from Bratislava to Modra, second to Vajnory and the third to Trnava and Nitra. Ramsbury is a village and civil parish in the English county of Wiltshire. The village is in the Kennet Valley near the Berkshire boundary. The nearest towns are Hungerford about east and Marlborough about west. The much larger town of Swindon is about to the north. The civil parish includes the hamlet of Axford about west of Ramsbury, and three smaller hamlets: New Town, close to Ramsbury to the southeast, and Knighton and Whittonditch, both about to the east. New Town, Enford, Wiltshire
Enford is a village and civil parish in Wiltshire, England, in the northeast of Salisbury Plain. The village lies southeast of Devizes and north of Salisbury. The parish includes nine small settlements along both banks of the headwaters of the River Avon. Besides Enford, these are Compton, Coombe, East Chisenbury, Fifield, Littlecott, Longstreet, New Town and West Chisenbury. The name is derived from the Old English ''Enedford'' meaning 'duck ford'. History The parish carries much evidence of prehistoric activity, including bowl barrows. Lidbury Camp, on Littlecott Down, was occupied in the Iron Age and in the Romano-British period, and further evidence of Romano-British occupation has been found around Compton. Newtown, Kent
Newtown is a suburb of Ashford in Kent, South East England. It was built by the South Eastern Railway (SER), south-east of the railway station, alongside Ashford railway works. Originally designed for railway workers, the estate survived the closure of the works in the late 20th century, which is in the process of being redeveloped. History The estate was purchased by the SER in February 1846 for £21,000. The original name was Alfred Town, or Alfred New Town, but it had become known by its present name by 1861. It was laid out in roughly a triangular pattern, with a green in the centre. The first properties to be built the following year were 72 cottages for workers, including engineers, fitters, smiths, carpenters, painters and other labourers. New Town, Luton
New Town is a district of Luton, just south east of the town centre, in Bedfordshire, England. It is roughly bounded by Castle Street and London Road to the west, Seymour Road to the east, New Town Street to the north, and Cutenhoe Road to the south. Local area Castle Street was the site of a medieval castle. The district has characteristic pubs and has traditionally been a working class area of the town. To alleviate the housing shortage of the 1960s several multi-story flats were built and an industrial park was added in the 1980s to attract new industries.
