New Recording (album)
''New Recording'' is a solo album by the Scottish rock musician and member of Deacon Blue, Ricky Ross. It was produced by Ross and the former Love and Money keyboard, player Paul McGeechan. After Ross' previous album's focus on hard edged electric guitar, ''New Recording'' is largely acoustic. This second post-Deacon Blue solo album is a much more intimate work – a melodic mix of piano or acoustic guitar and ambient, often dreamy, keyboard effects and sound samples. The album includes a re-recorded version of "The Undeveloped Heart", which appeared on Deacon Blue's ''Ooh Las Vegas'' compilation album. No singles were released from this album, but a yet-again remixed version of "Undeveloped Heart" was subsequently released on '' The Undeveloped Heart'' EP. Ricky Ross (musician)
Richard Alexander Ross (born 22 December 1957) is a Scottish singer-songwriter and broadcaster who is the lead singer of the rock band Deacon Blue. Alongside his discography with Deacon Blue, Ross has released a number of solo albums, his first, '' So Long Ago'' was released in 1984. Biography Early life Ross was born in Dundee, Scotland, in 1957 and attended the High School of Dundee, an independent school. Deacon Blue (1987–present) Ross is a founding member and lead singer of the rock band Deacon Blue. The band released their debut album, '' Raintown'', on 1 May 1987 in the United Kingdom and in the United States in February 1988. Electric Guitar
An electric guitar is a guitar that requires external amplification in order to be heard at typical performance volumes, unlike a standard acoustic guitar (however combinations of the two - a semi-acoustic guitar and an electric acoustic guitar exist). The bass guitar, electric bass or simply bass (), is the lowest-pitched member of the string family. It is a plucked string instrument similar in appearance and construction to an electric or an acoustic guitar, but with a longer neck and scale length, and typically four to six strings or courses. The guitar is a fretted musical instrument that typically has six strings. Lorraine McIntosh (born 13 May 1964) is a Scottish singer, vocalist with Scottish band Deacon Blue, and actress. Career McIntosh is a vocalist with Deacon Blue, whose second studio album, '' When the World Knows Your Name'' (1989), topped the UK Album Charts for two weeks, and included " Real Gone Kid", which became their first UK top ten single. McIntosh took a break from music to play the character Alice Henderson in the Scottish soap opera ''River City'', which was set in a fictitious suburb of Glasgow. Love and Money are a Scottish rock/soul/funk band, formed in 1985 in Glasgow, Scotland. The band was formed by three former members of Friends Again (singer-songwriter and guitarist James Grant, drummer Stuart Kerr and keyboardist Paul McGeechan) along with bassist Bobby Paterson, who replaced Friends Again's Neil Cunningham and who had been a member of Set the Tone, a band previously signed to Island Records in 1983.
