New Mogadishu International Airport (, ) is an international airport currently under construction in the coastal area of El Maan, approximately 35 km northeast of Mogadishu, the capital of Somalia. Somali Airlines was the flag carrier of Somalia. Established in 1964, it offered flights to both domestic and international destinations. It operated Boeing 720Bs, Boeing 707-300s and Airbus A310-300s on a network to the Middle East and Europe. The airline discontinued operations in 1991 after the start of the Somali civil war. The Somali Civil Aviation Authority (SCAA) (previously: Somali Civil Aviation and Meteorology Authority (SCAMA)) is the national civil aviation authority body of Somalia. Transport in Somalia refers to the Transport network, transportation networks and modes of transport in effect in Somalia. They include highways, airports and seaports, in addition to various forms of public and private vehicular, maritime and aerial transportation. Roads Somalia's network of roads is 21,830 km long.
