Neville, New South Wales
Neville is a small village in the south-east of New South Wales, Australia, in Blayney Shire Council, Blayney Shire. It is 60 km south west of Bathurst, New South Wales, Bathurst or about 16 km south-east of Mandurama, New South Wales, Mandurama. It is 940 metres above sea level and has a population of about 100. History European settlement of the area began soon after the establishment of Bathurst in 1815, but the exact time is still unclear. The village was known by different names before it was finally called Neville in 1888. Other names previous to Neville include "No-one swamp" or "Number one Swamp" (the creek that it is on) and ''Macquarie'' in reference to Lachlan Macquarie, an early governor of New South Wales, and then "Mount Macquarie" which the nearby Mount Macquarie is still called. USS Neville (APA-9)
USS ''Neville'' was originally a cargo vessel ordered by the British for WW I under the name ''War Harbour'' and requisitioned by the United States Shipping Board (USSB) before completion. The ship was renamed ''Independence'', completed, delivered to the Navy and commissioned on 16 November 1918 to see brief service with the Naval Overseas Transportation Service (NOTS). After decommissioning 20 March 1919 the ship with four sisters was converted to turbine electric drive in 1920 to operate as one of the first U.S. cargo vessels with electric drive. The ship operated commercially under the USSB until sold in 1931to the Baltimore Mail Steamship Company. After being rebuilt and renamed ''City of Norfolk'' the ship served commercially until again acquired and commissioned in 1940 by the Navy as ''Nevile'', first designated as the transport AP-16 and then converted into an attack transport and designated APA-9 in service until 1946. The Neville Brothers were an American R&B/soul/funk group, formed in 1976 in New Orleans, Louisiana. History The group notion started in 1976, when the four brothers of the Neville family, Art (1937–2019), Charles (1938–2018), Aaron (b. 1941), and Cyril (b. 1948) came together to take part in the recording session of the Wild Tchoupitoulas, a Mardi Gras Indian group led by the Nevilles' uncle, George Landry ("Big Chief Jolly"). Their debut album ''The Neville Brothers'' was released in 1978 on Capitol Records. In 1987, the group released '' Uptown'' on the EMI label, featuring guests including Branford Marsalis, Keith Richards, and Carlos Santana. In mathematics, Neville's algorithm is an algorithm used for polynomial interpolation that was derived by the mathematician Eric Harold Neville in 1934. Given ''n'' + 1 points, there is a unique polynomial of degree ''≤ n'' which goes through the given points. Neville's algorithm evaluates this polynomial. Neville's algorithm is based on the Newton form of the interpolating polynomial and the recursion relation for the divided differences. Tarring Neville is a village and civil parish in the Lewes district of East Sussex, England. The village is located five miles (8 km) south of Lewes, on the A26 road to Newhaven. The south west border of the parish runs along the River Ouse, the parish extending into the South Downs. In 1971 the parish had a population of 36. Landmarks The parish church, dedicated to St Mary, is a Grade I listed building. It was built in the 13th century and has a 14th-century font.
