Neve Tzedek (military Prison), March 2021
Neve Tzedek (, ''lit.'' Abode of Justice) is a Jewish neighborhood in southwestern Tel Aviv, Israel. It was the first Judaism, Jewish neighborhood to be built outside the old city of the ancient port of Jaffa. It was founded by a group of 48 Jewish families led by Shimon Rokach, a Jerusalem pioneer of agriculture, and Aharon Chelouche, a landowner and businessman from Jaffa. At the beginning of the 20th century, Neve Tzedek was the cultural center of the developing Tel Aviv, where many prominent representatives of the Jewish creative intelligentsia lived and worked, including the future List of Nobel laureates, Nobel laureate Shmuel Yosef Agnon and the artist Nachum Gutman, who described life in Neve Tzedek in their autobiographical works. Israeli military prisons are military prisons in Israel for guarding soldiers who committed crimes during their service. Prison sector history The need to create prisons in the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) arose as the soldiers' discipline deteriorated over the course of the 1948 Arab–Israeli War. At first, detention centers were built in the infantry brigades' bases under the auspices of the Manpower Directorate. The prison sector of the Israeli Military Police was founded in June 1948. It was originally called Military Police Prisons (), under a Prisons Officer. Kfar Yona () is a city in the Central District (Israel), Central District of Israel. It is located between the cities Netanya and Tulkarm, about 8 km east of Netanya in the central junction between Highway 6 (Israel), Highway 6 and Highway 4 (Israel), Highway 4. Prison Four (, ''Kele Arba''), officially Confinement Base 394 (, ''Bsis Kli'a 394'') was an Israeli military prison for Israeli soldiers, located in the military police compound in Tzrifin (Camp Yadin), Israel. It was the main prison for military prisoners in Israel (the secondary being Prison Six) and could contain approximately 600 prisoners. It was the only prison for Israeli soldiers during an emergency. Prison Four accepted all prisoners except officers, senior NCOs, some military policemen and soldiers who serve in the Northern Command. These go to Prison Six. Prison Six ( ''Kele Shesh''), officially Confinement Base 396 ( ''Bsis Kli'a 396'') is an Israeli military prison located near Atlit, Israel, on Oren Junction. It was the second military prison for IDF soldiers, after Prison Four in Tzrifin (Camp Yadin). Prison Six can contain about 350 prisoners. Prison Six generally contained prisoners from the Northern Command, as well as officers and senior NCOs. The Israel Prison Service (, ''Sherut Batei HaSohar'', , ''Idārat al-Sujūn al-Isrā’īlīyyah''), known in Israel by its acronym Shabas () or IPS in English, is the state agency responsible for overseeing prisons in Israel.
