Neva Dinova
Neva Dinova is an Independent music, indie band from Omaha, Nebraska, formed in 1993 "at the height of the slowcore movement" by guitarist/singer-songwriter Jake Bellows and bassist Heath Koontz. The band is named after Jake Bellows's grandmother. They were initially on Crank! A Record Company, where they released their debut album ''Neva Dinova'' in 2002, followed by a collaborative split EP with Bright Eyes (band), Bright Eyes entitled ''One Jug of Wine, Two Vessels'' in 2004 and their second album ''The Hate Yourself Change'' in 2005. The band's third album ''You May Already Be Dreaming'' was released in 2008 on Saddle Creek Records. The group subsequently dissolved, playing their last show in 2009. Saddle Creek reissued the 2004 EP ''One Jug of Wine, Two Vessels'' in 2010, with four new tracks. In August 2013, frontman Jake Bellows released his solo debut album ''New Ocean'' on Saddle Creek. Saddle Creek Records
Saddle Creek Records is an American record label based in Omaha, Nebraska. Started as a college class project on entrepreneurship, the label was founded by Mike Mogis and Justin Oberst in 1993 (as Lumberjack Records). Mogis soon turned over his role in the company to Robb Nansel. The label is named after Saddle Creek Road, a major street which cuts through midtown Omaha and also the beginnings of a scene whose members included Justin's brother Conor Oberst (at the time a solo artist and now from Bright Eyes (band), Bright Eyes, Conor Oberst and the Mystic Valley Band, Desaparecidos (band), Desaparecidos, and Monsters of Folk), Tim Kasher (then of Slowdown Virginia, currently of Cursive (band), Cursive and The Good Life (band), The Good Life), and others. ''Cassadaga'' is the eighth studio album by Bright Eyes, released in the UK on April 9, 2007, and in the US on April 10. Around 25 to 30 songs were recorded in 2006, with 13 of these appearing on the final track list. The album is named after the town of Cassadaga, Florida. Z Berg of the Like, Sherri DuPree and Stacy King of Eisley, and singer-songwriter Rachael Yamagata all appear on this album. The first single, "Four Winds", was released on March 6, 2007, taken from the ''Four Winds'' EP, which contains five B-sides not on ''Cassadaga''. ''Cassadaga'' debuted at number four on the ''Billboard'' 200, becoming the band's highest-charting album in the US, and sold about 58,000 copies in its first week. The Good Life (band)
The Good Life is an indie rock band on Saddle Creek Records. Started as a solo project of Cursive's frontman Tim Kasher, The Good Life quickly grew to become its own established group. The original intent of The Good Life was to provide Tim Kasher with a vehicle to perform songs that did not fit stylistically in with his long-running band Cursive. Kasher fronts the group and plays the part of the singer/songwriter. The other members of the band include Stefanie Drootin, Ryan Fox, and Roger Lewis. The Good Life has its core in those four musicians, but besides Kasher can be a rotating cast of characters involving many from Saddle Creek Records. The band's name came from the original state slogan for Nebraska, the home of Kasher and Saddle Creek, before 2003, when the slogan was changed.
