Nestos Chrysoupoli Football Club ( el, Α.Σ. Νέστος Χρυσούπολης) is a Greek football club based in Chrysoupoli, Kavala, Greece. History The group was founded in 1930 and reached the peak of its subheadings in the 1970s when it took part in the championship of the Second National League. Specifically, 1973 was champion of Eps Kavalas and then won the promotion through the special championship Hellenic Football Federation. So, he played two consecutive years (even unique in history) to B Ethniki. 1973–74 season ranked 11th in Gamma Ethniki and in 1974–75 came 14th and relegated at the local league. During the next decade they participated in Gamma Ethniki, and had multiple instances in Delta Ethniki. Specifically, in 1986 was champion of Delta Ethniki and promoted to Gamma Ethniki. Nikos Kechagias (footballer, Born 1969)
Nikos Kechagias ( gr, Νίκος Κεχαγιάς; born 21 April 1969) is a Greek professional football manager and former player. Kechagias played as a centre back and spent the majority of his playing career with Skoda Xanthi, whom he currently is the record holder for appearances with 327 games. He was part of the Greece U23 team that won the gold medal for the 1991 Mediterranean Games in Athens. Coaching career After retiring as a player in 2005, Kechagias became the assistant coach of Skoda Xanthi. On 26 February 2007, he became first-team manager. He was replaced by Emilio Ferrera, but on 22 October 2007 he was brought back to the bench and completed the season in the 8th place. Since then, he has worked occasionally in teams of lower leagues such as Panetolikos, Thrasyvoulos Fylis and Anagennisi Karditsas. Gamma Ethniki
The Gamma Ethniki ( el, Γ΄ Εθνική Ερασιτεχνική Κατηγορία, C National Amateur Division) is the third highest football league in Greece. History The Gamma Ethniki began in 1965 as an amateur championship, while in 1983 it was changed to professional. Although not literally national (it is divided into ''North'' and ''South'' groups), Football League 2 is considered as a national division. On 3 August 2010, it was announced that the division had been renamed ''Football League 2''. From season 2013–14, the football League 2 is merged by fourth division championship (Delta Ethniki) and renamed again Gamma Ethniki. 2023–24 Gamma Ethniki
The 2023–24 Gamma Ethniki is the 41st season since the official establishment of the championship in 1983, and the third after the re-establishment as the 3rd tier of the Greek Football. The competition started on 17 September 2023, and is conducted in four groups, in contrast to 2022–23 season, when it was conducted in five groups. 72 teams are participating and 30 of them will be relegated at the end of the season. The groups were formed according to geographical criteria. After all games of the four groups are played, the champion of each group will be promoted to Super League 2. The seven last teams of each group will be relegated to Local FCA Championships and also 2 more teams will be relegated after a single play-out game in neutral ground. Chrysoupoli ( el, Χρυσούπολη, before 1925: Σαπαίοι - ''Sapaioi'' or Σαρή Σαμπάν - ''Sari Saban'') is a town and a former municipality in the Kavala regional unit, East Macedonia and Thrace, Greece. Kavala ( el, Περιφερειακή Ενότητα Καβάλας, ''Perifereiakí Enótita Kaválas'') is one of the regional units of Greece. It is part of East Macedonia and Thrace. Its capital is the city of Kavala.
