Nerve War
''Nerve War'' is the first release by the Canadian band Front Line Assembly (known as Frontline Assembly at the time). Having a limited cassette release (between 50 and 100) in 1986, it remains the most sought-after release from Bill Leeb and company. The songs on the tape sound more abrasive and industrial than Leeb's subsequent output which leans more toward an EBM style. It has never been officially released after Front Line Assembly became more popular (supposedly the master tapes were lost), however, MP3s of it have appeared on the Internet since about 2002. There are three different versions of ''Nerve War'', with varying track listings, lengths, and titles. The original release included a song entitled "Thy Glory", which was removed from subsequent releases at the insistence of cEvin Key of Skinny Puppy, due to the usage of a bass line from his Tear Garden song. Front Line Assembly
Front Line Assembly (FLA) is a Canadian electro-industrial band formed by Bill Leeb in 1986 in music, 1986 after leaving Skinny Puppy. FLA has developed its own sound incorporating elements of electronic body music and electro-industrial. The band's membership has rotated through the years, including Michael Balch, Rhys Fulber, and Chris Peterson (producer), Chris Peterson, all of whom are associated with several other acts. Since their inception, the group have produced over a dozen studio albums and EPs, several of which have charted on ''Billboard (magazine), Billboards Top Dance/Electronic Album chart. The albums ''Tactical Neural Implant'' and ''Hard Wired'' are two of the group's most successful records, the former being considered a classic among industrial music fans. Total Terror
''Total Terror'' is the second of two self-released cassette tapes by industrial music band Front Line Assembly. At this point, Bill Leeb was the band's only dedicated member, with some help from Rhys Fulber. Background After the second demo cassette Michael Balch became a member of Front Line Assembly. It also paved the way for a release on a label since the band received offers from several labels to record an album. Release The album was mostly remastered and rereleased on CD in 1993 as ''Total Terror I'', and followed up by a companion collection of same-period demos, ''Total Terror II'', a year later. These have been collected into ''Complete Total Terror''. In Germany, both CDs were released 1993 by now defunct label Dossier. Polish label Mecanica issued vinyl editions of both albums in summer 2002, together with bonus tracks from other sessions and compilations. Electronic Body Music
Electronic body music (EBM) is a genre of electronic music that combines elements of industrial music and synth-punk with elements of dance music. It developed in the early 1980s in Western Europe, as an outgrowth of both the punk and the industrial music cultures. It combines sequenced repetitive basslines, programmed disco rhythms, and mostly undistorted vocals and command-like shouts with confrontational or provocative themes. CEvin Key
Kevin William Crompton (born February 13, 1961), known professionally as cEvin Key, is a Canadian musician, songwriter, producer, and composer. He is best known as a member of the industrial music group Skinny Puppy, which he co-founded in 1982 with singer Nivek Ogre. Initially a side project while he was with the new wave band Images in Vogue, Skinny Puppy quickly became his primary musical outlet after landing a record deal with Nettwerk Records in 1984. When Skinny Puppy disbanded in 1995 following the death of keyboardist Dwayne Goettel, Key's main project became the electronic noise group Download (band), Download, whose first album, ''Furnace (Download album), Furnace'', was released that same year. Skinny Puppy was a Canadian electro-industrial band formed in Vancouver in 1982. The group was among the founders of the industrial rock and electro-industrial genres. Initially envisioned as an experimental side-project by cEvin Key (Kevin Crompton) while he was in the new wave band Images in Vogue, Skinny Puppy evolved into a full-time project with the addition of vocalist Nivek Ogre (Kevin Ogilvie). Over the course of 13 studio albums and many live tours, Key and Ogre were the only constant members. Depeche Mode are an English electronic music, electronic band formed in Basildon, Essex in 1980. Originally formed with the line-up of Dave Gahan, Martin Gore, Andy Fletcher (musician), Andy Fletcher and Vince Clarke, the band currently consists of Gahan and Gore.
