Nerijus Cesiulis (born 6 May 1981) is a Lithuanian politician of the Social Democratic Party serving as mayor of Alytus since 2019. From 2007 to 2019, he was a member of its municipal council. Alytus
Alytus () is a city with Town privileges, municipal rights in southern Lithuania. It is the List of cities in Lithuania, sixth-largest city in Lithuania and the List of cities in the Baltic states by population, 14th-largest city in the Baltic states, and also the Capital (political), capital of Alytus County. Being the historical centre of the Dzūkija region, it is connected to several major roads, linking it with the cities of Vilnius; Kaunas; Lazdijai, which is on the border with Poland; and Grodno, Belarus. In July 2024, its total population was counted as 50,996 people. The city lies on the banks of the Neman, Nemunas river. For centuries, the city was divided into two separate entities. ''Respublika'' () is a right-wing Lithuanian newspaper, published since September 16, 1989. Since January 7, 1991, it has published a Russian language edition (''Республика''). In 1993 one of the founders, deputy editor-in-chief, and investigative journalist Vitas Lingys was shot to death in Vilnius after several death threats. Lingys wrote about organized crime and published several revealing stories about "Vilnius Brigade" crimes. Boris Dekanidze, the head of the Vilnius Brigade in Lithuania, was found guilty of this crime and sentenced to death. He became the last person to be executed in July 1995 before the death sentence was abolished. Delfi (occasionally capitalized as DELFI) is a news website in Estonia, Latvia, and Lithuania providing daily news, ranging from gardening to politics. It ranks as one of the most popular websites among Baltic users. Delfi operates in the respective Baltic countries under the domain names delfi.ee, delfi.lv, and delfi.lt. Aside from versions in the Estonian, Latvian, and Lithuanian languages, the company offers Russian-language versions of its portal in all three countries. ''Baltic Farm'', known as ''Farmi'' in Estonia, ''Ferma'' in Latvia and ''Fermos'' in Lithuania was the first and only season of '' The Farm'' to air in the Baltic region of Europe. 19 contestants compete and live on a Farm like it was a century prior and to try and survive to win the grand prize of €10,000. 2024 Lithuanian Parliamentary Election
The 2024 Lithuanian parliamentary election was held on 13 and 27 October 2024 to elect the 141 members of the Seimas. Parliament members were elected in 71 single-member constituencies using the two-round system, and the remaining 70 in a single nationwide constituency using proportional representation. The first round was held on 13 October and the second round on 27 October.
