Nepal Bharat Library
Nepal Bharat Library or more generally called the ''Indian Library'' is run by the Indian Embassy in Kathmandu, Nepal. The library was called ''Nepal-Bharat Sanskritik Kendra'' till 2005. The library was established in 1951 after India set up the diplomatic relation with Nepal (13 June 1947) with an aim to enhance and strengthen cultural relations and information exchange between India and Nepal. It is the first foreign library in Nepal. Initially, the library was located in Basantapur, however in 1970, it was relocated to New Road. In 1980s the average visitors were 1,150 per daily. The number of visitors has reduced to about 300 per day in 2020. Facilities *The library has a floor area of 3,474 sq. ft. *As per the statistics of 1980s, there are approximately 46,000 books. Kathmandu Durbar Square (Nepal Bhasa: येँ लायकु/𑐥𑐾𑑄 𑐮𑐵𑐫𑐎𑐹, Nepali: हनुमानढोका दरबार; ''Basantapur Durbar Kshetra'') is a historically and culturally significant site in Kathmandu, Nepal. It is one of the three Durbar (royal palace) Squares in the Kathmandu Valley in Nepal that are UNESCO World Heritage Sites. Although the construction of the square began in the 3rd century, the major structures within it were added in later periods. The outer complex consists of a number of 16th-century temples built during the reign of the Malla kings. New Road is the financial hub and a busy high street, High Street in Kathmandu, Nepal. It refers to a two lane street in the center of Kathmandu, as well as the surrounding neighborhood. The Nepal National Library () is the legal deposit and copyright library of Nepal under the Ministry of Education, Science and Technology. History It was established on 2 January 1957 and was initially based around the purchased private collection of Rajguru Hem Raj Pandey, an advisor to King Mahendra of Nepal. Items of the Central Secretariat Library were also brought into the collection totaling 34,292 items at the time of the foundation. The library is located at Pulchowk near UNDP complex. At present the library has around 84,000 volumes of books, journals and other materials in different languages. The National Braille Library () is the first library for visually impaired people in Nepal, and as of 2020, the only one.
