Nelonen Sport
Ruutu+ Urheilu 2 is a Finnish TV channel that specializes in sports. ''Urheilukanava'' was launched on August 27, 2001 and it was especially popular among Finnish football fans since the channel made it possible to watch both high standard domestic and international football on TV for free. Urheilukanava was replaced by Nelonen Sport in February 2010. Nelonen Sport was renamed to Nelonen Pro 2 in January 2011 and it became a pay TV channel. Viasat (Nordic Television Service)
Viasat is a direct broadcast satellite, satellite and pay television brand, founded in Sweden in 1991. Viasat has previously been owned by Modern Times Group, Modern Times Group (MTG). The channels of both companies were broadcast from London. In 2018, Modern Times Group, MTG sourced out the television/streaming division, forming three companies: Viaplay Group (serving Nordic countries), Viasat World (international and Ukraine) and Viasat Russia (Russia and CIS). In 2020, Viaplay Group formed a joint venture with Canal Digital to form the company Allente, that offers satellite television services in the Nordic countries. The merger was completed on April 13, 2021. DNA Plc (natively ) is a Finnish telecommunications company. It was founded in 2000, and refounded in 2007 after a merger. DNA offers cellular phone services, FTTx, ADSL, terrestrial television (DVB-T/DVB-T2), cable television (DVB-C) and regular (landline) telephone service. Floorball
Floorball (also known by other names) is a sport played with five players and a goalkeeper in each team. It is played indoors with sticks and a hollow plastic ball with holes. Matches are played in three periods. The sport of bandy also played a role in the game's development. The game was invented in Sweden in the late 1960s. The basic rules were established in 1979 when the first floorball club in the world, Sala IBK, from Sala, was founded in Sweden. Official rules for matches were first written down in 1981. Mestis
Mestis (from , meaning 'Championship series', stylized as MEST1S) is the second-highest men's ice hockey league in Finland. The league was established by the Finnish Ice Hockey Association in 2000 to replace the I-divisioona ('First Division'). Being promoted to SM-liiga is possible if a Mestis team beats a SM-liiga club in the qualification series and matches all the criteria set by the SM-liiga. Mestis, however, is an open league where relegation and promotion are possible with the 3rd league, Suomi-sarja. Mestis is also the highest league governed by the FIHA. The Liiga, colloquially called the Finnish Elite League in English or FM-ligan in Swedish, is the top professional ice hockey league in Finland. The league comprises 16 teams from all around Finland with relegation and promotion between the Mestis. The winner of the Liiga playoffs is awarded the Kanada-malja at the end of each season. Teams from the Liiga participate in the IIHF's annual Champions Hockey League (CHL), competing for the European Trophy.
