Neilston Football Club was a Scottish association football, football team, based in Neilston, in Renfrewshire, Scotland. History The club was founded in 1883. Its earliest reported match (at home to Grafton on 5 January 1884) was in front of 1,000 spectators. Scottish Cup Neilston was not a successful club. Although it entered the Scottish Cup every season from 1884–85 Scottish Cup, 1884–85 until 1901–02 Scottish Cup, 1901–02, it only ever won two ties in the main competition. After the introduction of preliminary rounds in 1891–92 Scottish Cup, 1891–92 and the Scottish Qualifying Cup in 1895–96 Scottish Cup, 1895–96, Neilston never played in the first round proper again - indeed Neilston only won three further ties. Pollokshaws ( sco, Powkshaws) is an area on the South side of the city of Glasgow, Scotland. It is bordered by the residential neighbourhoods of Auldhouse to the east, Eastwood and Hillpark to the south and Shawlands to the north, with the Glasgow South Western Line railway and the open lands of Pollok Country Park to the west. The White Cart Water flows through the area. The housing stock consists of some sandstone tenement housing, modern brick tenement-style buildings, low-rise social housing and high rise/multi-storey tower blocks. Motherwell ( sco, Mitherwall, gd, Tobar na Màthar) is a town and former burgh in North Lanarkshire, Scotland, United Kingdom, south east of Glasgow. It has a population of around 32,120. Historically in the parish of Dalziel and part of Lanarkshire, Motherwell is the headquarters for North Lanarkshire Council. Albion Rovers Football Club is a semi-professional football team from Coatbridge, North Lanarkshire, Scotland. They are members of the Scottish Professional Football League (SPFL) and play in Scottish League Two, the fourth tier of the Scottish football league system. The Scottish Football Alliance was a football league football structure set up in Scotland in competition with the Scottish Football League. Its success in the early years of professional football in both England and Scotland made Alliance the basis for a second division in both countries. The alliance attracted a number of Junior clubs to the League system to guarantee its longevity for years to come. 1891–97 Originally founded in 1891 to rival the League, the Scottish Alliance was one of a number of leagues set up a year after the Scottish Football League was formed. The Scottish Football Federation was an association football competition formed in 1891 which ran for just two seasons. The proposal for a competition came from seven clubs (Falkirk, King's Park, Royal Albert, Glasgow Wanderers, Pollokshaws, Kilmarnock Athletic, and Arthurlie) which had been overlooked for the Scottish League and Scottish Football Alliance.
