Neil Percival Young (born November 12, 1945) is a Canadian and American singer-songwriter. After embarking on a music career in Winnipeg in the 1960s, Young moved to Los Angeles, forming the folk rock group Buffalo Springfield. Since the beginning of his solo career, often backed by the band Crazy Horse (band), Crazy Horse, he released critically acclaimed albums such as ''Everybody Knows This Is Nowhere'' (1969), ''After the Gold Rush'' (1970), ''Harvest (Neil Young album), Harvest'' (1972), ''On the Beach (Neil Young album), On the Beach'' (1974), and ''Rust Never Sleeps'' (1979). ''Neil Young'' is the debut studio album by Canadian/American musician Neil Young following his departure from Buffalo Springfield in 1968, issued on Reprise Records, catalogue number RS 6317. The album was first released on November 12, 1968, in the so-called 'CSG mix'. It was then partially remixed and re-released in late summer 1969, but at no time has the album charted on the ''Billboard'' 200. Background The album is Young's first solo record after releasing three albums with Buffalo Springfield. After their final breakup, Young hired Joni Mitchell's manager Elliot Roberts to also manage his career. Roberts continued to serve as Young's manager until his passing in 2019. Roberts organized Young's first solo tour of coffeehouses and negotiated a record contract for Young with Reprise Records, a division of Warner. Neil Young (August 28, 1936 – March 7, 2015) was a Canadian politician. He was a New Democratic member of the Canadian parliament from 1980 to 1993. He represented the downtown Toronto ridings of Beaches and Beaches-Woodbine. Background Young was born in Edinburgh, Scotland, in 1936. He emigrated to Canada in the 1950s and worked as a machinist in the electrical industry. He later became an organizer for the United Electrical Workers Union. After leaving politics he worked as a consultant on people with disabilities. He and his wife Vivien raised four children. He died on March 7, 2015, in Toronto. Politics He ran unsuccessfully for Toronto City Council's Ward 9 in 1976. Neil John Young is a Melbourne barrister and former Judge of the Federal Court of Australia on which he served from 30 November 2005 to 24 January 2007. Early life Young was educated at St Bede's College, Mentone. In 1973, Young completed his law degree with first class honours at Melbourne University. He was a tutor at Melbourne University and Ormond College. He completed a LL.M. at Harvard in 1977. His wife, Inga Arnadottir, is the Honorary Consul-General for Iceland in Australia. Career Young was admitted to the Victorian Bar on 3 March 1975. From 1975 to 1976 he was Judge's Associate to High Court Justice Sir Ninian Stephen. Young spent a year with a Wall Street law firm and a year working for the Australian practice Allen Allen & Hemsley, before he began practising at the Victorian Bar in 1979. Neil James Young (17 February 1944 – 3 February 2011) was an English footballer who made more than 400 appearances in the Football League playing as a striker for Manchester City, Preston North End and Rochdale.Young, ''Catch a Falling Star'', p. 214. In total, Young scored 86 goals from 334 League games for Manchester City, scored the only goal in the 1969 FA Cup Final, and scored as City won the 1970 European Cup Winners' Cup Final. Transferred to Preston North End for £48,000 during the 1971–72 season, he made 68 League appearances and scored 18 goals for the Deepdale club before finishing his senior career with Rochdale, where he spent the 1974–75 season. Neil Anthony Young (born 31 August 1973) is a former professional footballer who played as a defender. He is an older brother of footballer Luke Young. Career Young was born in Harlow. He played over 400 league games for AFC Bournemouth, some as captain, after joining in 1994 from Tottenham Hotspur. He played primarily at right-back although played at centre-back in the latter part of his Bournemouth career. Young was considered an attacking full back who would often support the right winger. He received a testimonial in 2005 against his brother's Charlton Athletic side. On 2 November 2007, he signed a one-month loan deal at Weymouth, linking up with former Bournemouth teammate Jason Tindall. Neil Young (born 14 August 1979) is a retired goalkeeper who played for Sorrento FC, Melbourne Knights, Newcastle Jets and Perth Glory. He was previously the Head Goalkeeper Coach of A-League club Melbourne City FC. Club career Sorrento FC Young played for the majority of his career in the Football West State League with Sorrento FC.
