Negros Blue Hawks
The Negros Lady Blue Hawks, also referred to as the Negros–ICC Blue Hawks or the Negros Oriental Blue Hawks, is a Filipino women's developmental volleyball team based in Negros Oriental and representing the Negros island. The team currently competes in the Maharlika Pilipinas Volleyball Association (MPVA) as one of its charter teams in its inaugural season. The team is owned by the Immaculada Concepcion College with Marcelino Agana as the team owner and backed by the provincial government of Negros Oriental. History In September 2023, the team was first announced as one of the charter teams of the MPVA. At the time, they were simply known as the "Blue Hawks", as the team didn't have a designated home locality. Later on, it was announced that the team will be based in Negros Oriental. The Maharlika Pilipinas Volleyball Association (MPVA) is a women's developmental volleyball league in the Philippines consisting of nine teams. The MPVA was founded in 2023 by eight-division boxing world champion Manny Pacquiao, who also founded the similarly-named Maharlika Pilipinas Basketball League (MPBL) in 2017. Similar to its basketball counterpart, it is meant to be a grassroots league with a focus on showcasing local, homegrown talents. It is the third league under the ''Maharlika Pilipinas'' name, following the MPBL and the Junior MPBL. 2024 MPVA Season
The 2024 MPVA season, also referred to as MPVA Season 1, was the first full-length season of the Maharlika Pilipinas Volleyball Association (MPVA) and its second overall. The preliminary round began on August 11, 2024. This season will see two new teams: the Quezon Tangerines and Valenzuela Classy. The Bacoor City Strikers (volleyball), Bacoor City Strikers enter this season as defending champions. Teams This season features nine teams, including two expansion teams. The Valenzuela Classy was first announced on July 10, 2024 while the Quezon Tangerines were announced two weeks later on July 24. Of the eight teams that took part in the 2023 MPVA season, inaugural season, the Nasipit Lady Spikers are the only team that did not return to the league. 2023 MPVA Season
The 2023 MPVA season was the first overall season of the Maharlika Pilipinas Volleyball Association (MPVA). The preliminary round began on October 22, 2023 and ended on November 30, 2023. The playoffs then ran from December 2 to 21, 2023. This season featured eight teams from across the country. The opening ceremony took place at Ynares Center in Antipolo, Rizal with a doubleheader featuring the Caloocan AM Spikers and Negros–ICC Blue Hawks in the first match, followed by the San Juan Lady Knights and Rizal Golden Coolers in the second match. The Bacoor City Strikers won the league's inaugural championship, after defeating the Negros–ICC Blue Hawks in three matches in the Finals. The Bacoor City Strikers, also known as Bacoor City Strikers – Metro Land Builders Corp. for sponsorship reasons, are a Filipino women's developmental volleyball team based in Bacoor, Cavite.
